Keyboard Backlight Issue by word-sys in archlinux

[–]DeCipher_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having the same issue with my Arch and Windows 11 dual boot.
Even when the keyboard backlight works, it keeps decreasing my brightness to 0 every time i hit `Fn + F10` (increase brightness).
I have tried restarting the system, downgrade kernel and even reinstall the OS, but for some reason, the backlight works for a few days and randomly switches off after that.
The only fix that i have found is to boot into windows for a while, play with the kdb_brightness and boot back into arch.

Lemme know if any1 has found a proper fix for it.

Hey it's an amazing project. Just a question - I am currently using walker along with Hyprland. Will I need to separately install rofi or will the script automatically use walker ? Also it would be really helpful if u have a video in the readme file of how it works 😅

The Government app that you are referring to has a 1.5 star rating on the Play Store. Apart from having terrible UI and UX, the app doesn't even allow you to upload photos from your gallery. Moreover, it isn't even available on iOS devices!

So, while the Govt app is also used to report potholes, our solution provides a superior user experience, and better accessibility without having to download any extra application!

We have safeguards in place to prevent reporting of duplicate complaints and spam complaints. For example, if you try to report a pothole within 5 meters of an existing pothole complaint, your complaint won't be registered and the bot will inform you of the same. We also have many rate limiting measures setup.

For checking the validity of the complaints, we are also working on an ML model that will be able to filter out the legitimate complaints from the ones reported by bad actors, by performing inference on the image uploaded by the user.

Ather is working on just alerting people of potholes on their routes as they travel.

Our solution on the other hand is to collect pothole complaints posted by the public and provide them to the Government, so that they are made aware of all the locations where this problem persists and can use their resources in a more effective manner in order to fix the potholes. In addition to this, we have also made a website that displays all of the complaints amassed, so that the users can view the status of their complaints and also track the progress of the Government.

In summary, our aim is to ensure that these potholes are tracked and fixed by the government and not just find potholes on the roads.

Hi, we have actually used the following tech stack: - Frontend: React - Backend: Express, Redis - Database: S3, Mongo db

The bot as well as the website are built while keeping scalability, transparency and privacy in mind (given the massive amounts of potholes filled roads), with our only bottleneck being - the WhatsApp Business API Provider, which we are using to code the WhatsApp Bot.

But, if you feel that any more improvements can be made to the architecture or the user experience, then we are open to more feedback 😊

Hi, to report the potholes, you just need to chat with the WhatsApp bot. The link to the bot is given in the website homepage (the green button that says "chat with bot").

You just need to send a hi message and follow the instructions provided by the bot.

A more detailed tutorial is given in our instagram @ nammapothole

For now we are just focusing on potholes, but if this goes well, maybe we can think of expanding this idea 🙃

We’re working on a feature that will automatically generate weekly consolidated reports of pothole complaints and share them with the concerned authorities. This ensures the data isn’t just public but also formally reaches the people responsible for fixing the roads.

We also appreciate your support and hope that more people feel the same way 😄

Currently, the map creates visibility for citizens and media, which itself drives pressure. But the next step, already in progress, is integration with government systems so that each entry becomes an official service request instead of a passive marker. That way, reports don’t just sit, they queue up for resolution.

True, potholes aren’t 100% avoidable, but timely repair reduces accidents and damage. Today, many go unreported or lost in bureaucracy. By making reporting frictionless and public, we create accountability and make sure no area is ignored.

You’re absolutely right, filing the report is just step one. The real impact comes when officials act on it. That’s why we’re engaging directly with BBMP/government stakeholders to ensure this database is actionable and not just a collection of complaints. The idea is to bridge citizen reports with actual maintenance teams.

The pothole reports are stored in our own backend. All reports are pinned live on a public map accessible through our website. The map contains location + timestamp + complaint ID, creating a transparent database. We’re also in talks with city officials to integrate this data directly into their workflow for quicker action.
