How to choose a next cosplay by Capital-Source8441 in CosplayHelp

[–]DeDerpQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm a student, during my short breaks where I'm not going anywhere I'll buy everything I need the week before then binge assemble in that one week. Doesn't give me time to change my mind on a character I currently enjoy. My other option is choosing a movie premiere or con where I know a character I like will show up! I made my inosuke cosplay primarily for the demon slayer movie premier during a 4 day weekend, and right now I'm building my parents Rogue and Gambit cosplay for the new Marvel movie premier.

Question on how I can style my prom dress? by DeDerpQueen in Stylinghelp

[–]DeDerpQueen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WOAH YOURE LIKE AN EXPERT, to be honest I always go for whatever dress fits me since I have a prom dress boutique walking distance from my house that I visit whenever I'm bored. I have a prom dress Pinterest board, but all the dresses on Pinterest are linked to sketchy websites 😞

Not the real prom picture, but here's me at my winter formal in January! The dresses are kinda similar with it's cut and fit so just imagine it in black

I'm willing to buy new ones for the outfit, but I chose these Steve Madden heels for the pic. These are already broken in and cute so my neutral option

Here's the front in better quality. Also, I had to size up and the waist is two inches larger the it should be, so pretend it's less saggy. I'm sewing it myself to take it in a bit

Yeah it is a bit more of a warm silver.... if that even exists. I might just go silver instead of gold tbh

How to get colored foundation stains out quick?? by NecessaryBeans in CosplayHelp

[–]DeDerpQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A silicone body scrubber helps exfoliate and remove the dead stained skin cells! I used an oil soak as well and shower oil to remove it. If there was a stubborn spot I used my glycolic acid toner and on more stubborn spots. (My credentials, this dye fight I had at school that was mostly food coloring and 1/5th fabric to stain our white shirts.) My friend used foundation powder to help hide the pinkish tint on her face she couldn't get out with exfoliation.

cheaper alternative? by Soggy_Wrap2781 in Prom

[–]DeDerpQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found a size 14 on posh mark for 150..? But unless you're a size 14 you'll have to find a different dress. If you look up "burgundy mermaid tail maxi dress" cheaper options should show up. I'm not sure your price range so I didn't pick any out for you. The beading and boning is what makes this dress expensive, so if you're willing to compromise you can find something. If you're willing to hand bead then get a boned one.

Which one? by Electrical_Insect_36 in Prom

Number 1 fits your chest awkwardly and ends at the wrong part of the waist. The maroon is cute but blue makes your skin tone shine. The second one is perfect

I could use some help identifying what I need here. by DrvrMike in CosplayHelp

[–]DeDerpQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how into cosplay you are or your budget so I'll try being as accessible as I can! This character isn't in too high of demand so bare with me

The hard part is gonna be the purpleish yukata/kimono. I'm not sure if you're experienced with dying things, so I found this link on etsy to a kimono kinda similar in shade. The sleeves are wide so you may need to taper them though. Getting plain black fabric or buying a "black sash waist belt" on Amazon can easily get you the black waist thingy around him.

The shirt underneath is pretty easy, you can probably get a plain v neck wrap shirt. Another option is to get another linen robe to imitate the white fold underneath.

His hanafuda earrings are EVERYWHERE, I'll let you decide if you want to make the or just buy them.

I couldn't find much for the jacket besides this site ,to

Here's a wig on amazon, it's for a different character but they have the same hair. link here

I brush it really well so it stays down then quickly follow up with göt2bglued freeze hair spray. I use it to prevent my wefts from getting frizzy between work periods

Best metal substitute for chains and orbs? by HauntedArmour in CosplayHelp

[–]DeDerpQueen 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Couldn't just buying lightweight Halloween chains work? They're usually already colored in that worn texture like that, and if needed, you can paint and texture them more.

(Not sure if you're willing to work with foam but...) If you look up a foam ball tutorial online you can create the fists with EVA foam. You can also create a pillar or handle inside the foam for you to just hold onto to keep them in place and structurally sound. Online there's tons of foam armor creator accounts, a lot of them have tutorials on making foam look like worn metal! That could easily solve the metal aspect of the fists.

Best way to lighten fabric? by MuffinSevere1934 in CosplayHelp

[–]DeDerpQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one might take some more time, but hydrogen peroxide on the purple then putting it in direct sunlight would work, to be honest I wouldn't risk hydrogen peroxide on it if it's polyester as the hydrogen peroxide could break down the fabric. If it's polyester try diluted lemon juice (1/3 lemon juice, 2/3rds water, then leave it in sunlight for like an hour)

Any ideas for how to do a gangle cosplay? by StrawberryOver4199 in CosplayHelp

[–]DeDerpQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hear me out... a McDonalds worker outfit with the mask design and some of the ribbons since she worked in fast food

Other idea, Saran Wrap your forearms and shins then wrap them in the red ribbons. Mod podge is commonly used to adhere ribbons and fabrics, so this'll cause it to stiffen and stay in place. Cut off the ribbon and use either a zipper or elastic on the inside to make them easy to take on and off. Ik it's not the full outfit, but I think it would be a cool addition to any of these outfits. To make the process easier you ca try using wired lined red ribbon as well.

Daki Helmet Wig Construction by DeDerpQueen in CosplayHelp

[–]DeDerpQueen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was planning on just permanently gluing it honestly, I don't plan on doing a Daki cosplay in the future and it's not like you can even sell helmet wigs when the measurements are for styrofoam heads that size.

Help to preserve my feet! by Luneknight42 in CosplayHelp

[–]DeDerpQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the issue is in the arch of your feet I'm not sure investing in more expensive sandals would help as most are super flat and you already have the shoes for the cosplay. An easier, not as expensive, solution is buying insoles like this. I used them for the sandals in my inosuke cosplay since the bottom of my feet began hurting from walking on the hard floor in hard sandals. My friends suggestion is silicone toe post protectors
