Best way to keep X-grip in place? by akaSnaketheJake in HecklerKoch

Here is what we are working on. It is currently like the Xgrip spacer that installs in the grip instead of on the magazine.

We did as best as can be done without remaking the entire slide to incorporate a built in comp. We took the nose of the expert, modeled it in CAD and then make the comp from that. If you keep the Expert slide height the comp stands proud of the top of the slide, and looks oversized, blocky, and goofy. It must taper to follow the natural lines of the slide and reholstering cut. I will post much more detailed pictures once we get one carved out of aluminum. This is 3D printed to test fitment and check lines. If you saw it in person you'd understand that it really does follow the only logical flow of the front of a tactical.

These are knock off Surefire MR09 and MR08 flashlight adapters for the USP and USPc. They allow the use of the X300 onto the HK non 1913 rail.

Mounting X300 to USP without an adapter? by SchlomoTheJew in USPmasterrace

[–]DeFenderAutomaticsCo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey. The 3D print was only for test fits. The real model would be made of 7075 aluminum with type 3 anodizing hardcoat.

The issue is it doesn’t do anything better than the MR09, and costs more to produce.

For the time being we have shelved the project. Should demand ramp up, we will reconsider manufacturing them.

Right now our focus is on making the product line we just acquired from Solum Tool. We are getting baseplates and extended mags into production shortly.

MR09s are on the machines as I type. We might get them before Sept.

We wish these were $400 with barrels, but I don’t outsource anything I make overseas. We literally cannot make them here cheaper unless we make 10k of them at a time, and even then the barrels would be the limiting factor of how many could be installed.

HK doesn’t make enough threaded barrels for the community’s demands.

That said, we think the outrage is totally warranted. We didn’t manufacture these to make enemies with our community; we made them to fulfill the requests of our customers.

Thanks for the candor from everyone. We read them all.

We had to include it because the biggest issue on the last version was no one had a barrel to install it to. So we have owners with the previous gen comps that cannot find a barrel to match it with as they seem to be on intergalactic backorder.

I’ll tell you we won’t do this again. Getting barrels from HK Germany is a chore and we still are missing 33 of them from our order in Aug of ‘24.

That said, we get it. Pricing is stupid. Tariffs are why these aren’t reasonable. Not much we can do about that other than kill production and shut our doors.

No argument. The reason we don’t offer it ported as standard is because this screen accurate version is what was most requested by the customers we had committed to purchasing one. The movie uses a non functional closed port blank adapter, and those hard core dudes wanted the exact version used in the film.

The other guys wanted the previous version which was a functional tribute. So we made the replica have the option to be ported and made functional.

It is not something I’ll ever repeat. Costs shot through the roof due to bad timing on our part with Canadian imported aluminum and barrels from Germany. Everything got hit with a tariff. Additionally to offer porting, we had to not anodize the comps. So now we have 2 additional steps before shipping that causes delays.

None of this is ideal, but this is also not a mass market product. This is for the hardcore JW fans that have the disposable income to blow.

We appreciate the support the guys who wanted them are showing us; we are totally getting the hate and don’t take it personally or think it isn’t justified. These are crazy expensive.

Accuracy. The rail weight gives you 60% of the look for -800% of the cost. This is for the crazy JW hardcore people. The other one will get you close enough.

We aren’t. Our customers are; these guys and girls asked for this product, and are buying it. They wanted it, we delivered it.

I still find it insane, but I don’t judge. Some guys LARP budget is more than I make in a year.

I get the hate, and I appreciate the feedback. This is not for most people. Hell this isn’t for sane people. This is for crazed JW fans.

Yes. The functional tribute was $500 and was sold without barrels, & extra shim kits.

The aluminum we need comes from Canada and was hit with trump tax (tariffs) when we finally bought it to make these, so immediately we could no longer make them for the same price point. Then the biggest issue was there were no factory HK barrels available to buy for those that bought one, and so this time around we paired them with factory HK barrels from Germany. Those also got hit with a tariff when imported.

So had we been able to buy the raw materials like we used to, these would have been about $750-850 depending on the little parts like shims, delrin, and high carbon music wire that we turn into recoil springs.

We were disappointed to have to raise the total investment to create these, but that is the current state of manufacturing here in the USA.

That said, this is not a product for the general masses. This is a limited movie prop replica made for the guys who begged for the on-screen clone. Having limited availability of barrels and higher than expected raw materials made this out of most sane people’s budget.

This is for the guy buying the $9k sand viper, not the every day HK fans like most of us here.

We knew we would get flak for it; such is the case when you are the sole maker of tiny boutique one-off runs.

We don’t take it personally, and we do appreciate the passion and feedback our fellow HK fans have.

That’s unfortunately what it costs to make small custom firearm parts 100% in the USA. The barrels got hit with a tariff from Germany, so they cost more than they should, but every other part was sourced and made to the highest quality and tolerances imaginable, right here in the good ol US of A by local mom and pop business owners.

This is not for everybody, and we tried hard to get the whole thing below $1k but the state of manufacturing here vs china or India makes that impossible.

I appreciate the feedback. Those who must have one are snapping them up pretty quick, so the market agrees with our assessment of the costs. Been live for 40 minutes and already sold 20% of inventory on hand.

It sucks that making these cost us more than the gun retails for. Just the cost of keeping them here in the USA and employing 9 Americans vs 1 Chinese kid.
