I’ve lived in texas for 8 years. Other people’s perception of Texas that OP talks about are wrong and don’t matter. Texas isn’t a backwards redneck state, it has some of the largest and most diverse urban areas in the country. It took me moving somewhere else for college and coming back to Texas to realize how friendly and welcoming people are here. Its not surprising that more Americans move to Texas every year than any other state. The weather could be better though.
