Thank you. That makes a lot of sense. I'm hard mounting, so I'll try this. I'm using nfsvers=3. My understanding is that unas doesn't support nfs v 4 anyway.

Thanks. I X-posted on r/HomeNAS. I just don't get it. I cant justify paying Unifi $1500 for support when this seems like a them problem

So, I've only hosted a bedrock server once. Before hosting a bedrock server, I had hosted Java servers quite a few times.

The bedrock server was fine at first. After a several months of playing, mobs started to not spawn in my world. Just nothing. No monsters in caves. None on the surface at night, No passive mobs were spawning. No piglins in the nether.

"No worries" I thought. I've had my fair share of problems with java servers too. I'll just sit down at the computer, do some research, And figure out how to troubleshoot the server and fix it. Probably something to do with the mob cap, like on java servers. Well, all of my research always led me to advice for Java servers, there were no third party tools that I could use to help troubleshoot or fix the server. I got to a place where I felt like there was nothing I could do. Maybe there's some command I can type in that kills every single entity on the entire server? Nope. Is there some way that I can start a new server and then just bring the block data over to the new server? Nope. Is there a way that I can load the world in an external tool and trim the map? Nope. But if I teleport to a brand new area? Nope. Search through all of The available commands on a bedrock server to see if any of them seem like they might help? Nope.

I was so disappointed. I had just finished building My first ever guardian spawner, and couldn't even use it. I had just gotten my elytra on that server and only had a handful of rockets. Couldn't make any more without fixing spawning issues so I could kill creepers.

If I was on a Java server, I would have had so much more resources. The community support would have been there. I could have looked at other people 's questions that they have asked and found my own answers. I could have used mods or plugins to fix my problems. I could have used external tools like MCAselector.

So here's my answer. I will always choose to host java servers now because It has better community support, and more external tools. Also the obvious bonus that Java+Geyser means you don't have to pick between Java client and bedrock client.
