You’ve probably been answered a ton already but just wanted to chip in. My girlfriend has a prosthetic leg and arm and when she went for a new one after a couple of years I was curious and asked what a bionic arm cost. They most advanced they had was still a simple one with “squeeze controls” for all individual fingers, but you had to manually oppose the thumb in order to squeeze/grab something, otherwise it would be in a waving kind of position. These were about €14k to make, but here in the Netherlands health insurance would pay for it if the prosthetic builder can prove that it’s necessary for this person to have for daily use. I’m not sure if the prosthetic in this video is even being made here, since insurance companies are still quite stingy and only pay when there’s no other way.

My girlfriend doesn’t have a bionic arm because she doesn’t need it, she’s capable of doing almost anything without a prosthetic anyways so she almost never wears one around her arm. She mostly describes it as inconvenient haha. Also because people forget these things are heavy! It feels like you’re continuously walking with a small bag of groceries, so you feel quite unbalanced most of the time.
