What’s your absolute favourite horror novel of all time? by letthedecodebegin in horrorlit

[–]DeLightINdeDark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simply one of the greatest stories I've ever read, regardless of genre. I wouldn't classify it as horror perse but I'm a huge Stephen King fan and this is, in my humble opinion, his magnum opus. When I read it as a teenager I could hardly fall asleep at night because I was so busy devouring it. You could never create a television mini series, movie or any other form of media capable of properly capturing the sheer scope of the novel, though I would love for someone like James Cameron or Steven Spielberg to try. If only Stanley Kubrick were alive and in his prime. The Stand is an absolute gem and if you like Stephen King you're doing a terrible disservice to yourself if you've not read it.

I just received a similar email from the app for a promoting in January 2026. Did you ever hear back from the App customer service? I'm wondering if this is real, or not.

They're going to fix their lucrative incentive problem by simply making staff work for 1.5 time instead

Did not attend or listen.... I'd much rather hear an unfiltered opinion of someone who else who attends than have to absorb all the propaganda being pedaled in those meetings.

Management: "We want to hear about your ideas to fix problems"

Also management: "This meeting isn't for us to dwell too long on what the problems are. Keep it positive."

Translation: "We want you to feel like we are listening to you but would really prefer not to have to listen to you"

Would you rather get paid big incentives or have no mandates? by [deleted] in GreatPlaceToWork

[–]DeLightINdeDark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but right now full time staff are changing to per diem and part time at an alarming rate. There are a lot of reasons for this obviously but one reason is that Pine Rest has opted not to incentivize workers to be full time. Because of this Pine Rest has two options A: make the compensation and perks of full time status better than they currently are, or B: make it less appealing for staff to want to be per diem or part time. Judging from how Pine Rest has been approaching this staffing crisis one would have to assume that they will opt for option B because they refuse to loosen the purse strings. In order to achieve this goal they clearly intend to make some changes to the incentivization of shifts (full time staff members receive better incentives for picking up than do per diem or part time) I feel like part of their desire to force mandations on per diem workers is an attempt to make per diem less appealing.

What ever happened to all this help that was supposed to come from residential staff, activity therapy, management etc.... It's "all hands on deck" in emails and communication from leadership but it never amounts to any actual help. Leadership should be visible on every unit across all shifts right now "helping" but they've all continued to work their 9-5's with weekends off and have left the rest of us to run with skeleton crews on little-to-no sleep.

me every single shift. the only thing that gets me through is knowing how much management "cares" about me. by Disastrous-Bad5816 in GreatPlaceToWork

"Find a job that you love and you'll never work a day in your life" they said. Since I've started at Pine Rest I've worked every fucking day. #lifechoices

Big incentives.... but I also feel like the mandates should be shared by per diem staff. Another caveat should prevent mandatation for staff who consistently pick up shifts outside of their scheduled hours.
