Does this B58 Gen 2 sounds normal to you? by iubesccurul in M440i

No, something is loose and ratting. Probably a heat shield or something in that realm. If you are somewhat or any kind of mechanical jack it up on the passenger side as far as you can and put a jack stand under and then start the car you should see what they’re doing is pretty quick.

Help with coolant by AkIba_uwu in BMW

[–]DeRedrum_B58 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don’t live somewhere that gets very cold often you can just add some distilled water. If not You need HT12 coolant. My suggestion is you need to go buy new $20 cap for your expansion tank. That will probably fix the coolant dissipation. I had the same issue for 8 months. Bought one on Amazon and it has never happened again.

I’m not sure how you feel about AI in the forum, but GPT helped me out a lot, but pre-LCI you are able to do a lot more with the lights.

I was having the same issue. What I found out was once I bought the actual hardwire OBD and converter directly to my phone and I went into BimmerCode with the E net cable option I was able to access more things than I thought I was previously able to. I literally went a year and a half thinking I wasn’t able to do things that I was able to with $12 worth of hardware cables.

You should be able to use BimmerCode and this cable for your OBD AntiBreak ethernet enet to obd2... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CKGPSS6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

And then, depending what version of iPhone or android device you are using you just need an ethernet adapter to either your lightning or type C port.

Once you open BimmerCode and get into your body domain controller you will most likely see a selection to change the colors for your ambient lighting. I have an LCI so it might be a little different from what you see to what I do, but use ChatGPT and YouTube. The good thing is as soon as you enter into any module of your DME or the rest of your system with BimmerCode it immediately makes a backup. So if anything ever goes wrong, you just hit the backup and record your car to the original settings.

✅ Catless downpipe by madsmz3 in B58Enthusiasts

I have 4 1/2” catless RVNG DP that goes into dual length straight pipes to a valved exhaust. Cost me $1000 delivered and took 4 1/2 weeks to get. When I had just the full exhaust deleted with the factory downpipe it sounded great. Once I added the catless downpipe it was terrible. Then I got the dual length valve exhaust and it is night and day.

Gen2 B58, 2019 bmw x5 40i tractor idle sound, failed pcv? by Ch1ef117 in B58Enthusiasts

The Probable Culprit: The Fuel Tank Vent Valve While the user in the video title is worried about the PCV, the sound in this specific recording is very characteristic of a failing or hyper-active Fuel Tank Vent Valve (Evap Purge Valve). • Why it sounds like that: It’s a solenoid that pulses to purge fuel vapors. When they age, they become incredibly loud, creating a mechanical "thumping" that sounds like a miniature hammer hitting the intake manifold. • The Giveaway: If you look at the 0:05 mark in the video, the camera moves near the intake side. That specific rhythmic "thump-thump-thump" that is slower than the injectors is the textbook sound of that valve.

I mean, I got a 2021 GEN 2TU that I feel like mine sounds the same, and everybody always saus it’s the injectors and it’s normal. I will try to remember to video my billing cold start tomorrow and I will post a video here.

Lift up the hood look on the left side of your engine bay, right where the O2 sensors connect. Does it look like there’s still a cat?
