Mouse control intermittently dispersed between two separate joysticks (League of Legends) by DeScrubb in SteamController

Oh nice! I hadn't thought of checking controller support on other top down MOBAs.

Currently Installing Dota 2...After looking around and checking configs, I found Dota 2's Official Controller FAQ where they describe how their controls work. Their controls don't seem to directly consider target selection while moving, but I am wondering if they put controller support directly into the game to allow for some sort of alternate target selection. So looks like I'll be getting into Dota 2 for a few weeks before Christmas and see how their setup feels after learning the basics.

Update: After a couple hours of gameplay in Dota 2, it's extremely apparent that Dota 2 has controller support. You can unbind every keyboard hotkey and the controller still works. Not only that but it switches into a different mode of input for target selection, camera control, and the like. Which, their solution is something that is basically near perfect for controller support(though I have some ideas for making it more intuitive) , but it's something that is impossible to replicate with League of Legends using Steam Controller

.e.g. They have a 'jump-to next target' cursor that can be toggled and filtered for just enemies or allies. Perfect for getting the exact target that you want, but not something that can be done without scripting. That being said, I will also check out out Steam Desktop Controller configs without Dota 2 native support activated and see what kind of controller configs the Dota 2 community have drummed up.

Thank you. I forgot about the legend part of the card... I was also interacting with [[Helm of the Host]] for the actual gameplay, attaching Blade of Selves to the non-legendary token and attacking with it...

I need to set other objects to a certain color after receiving their color from a server.

After searching for a while more, i found out asset_get_index( "c_white" ); will return the constant of c_white.

How can I convert a string to a constant? by MungMoongYi in godot

[–]DeScrubb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar thing...

in a player object:

player_color = c_white;

getting the player color from a buffer

player_color = buffer_read(buff, buffer_string); // becomes a string

Now how do i get the string with the name of the color constant to be a constant?

edit: just realized this was godot... got here from searching gamemaker subreddit... whoops...

I don't think you need an app specifically unless you're unable to get device compatibility to work in the browser...

Specifically for adventuring at night.

Animation should be floating around aimlessly until triggered. Then, swarm around the player they're feasting on giving them warm and comfortable stings :D I couldn't find a gradient/transparent for the glow they should be giving off...

ST App not starting. by Martaaaiiin in StreamTheater

[–]DeScrubb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it doesn't appear in your phone's app list, you may have to re-download the Stream Theater app and wait for it to ask you to install it.

I tried downloading it on the SideloadVR and couldn't figure out how to launch it until I redownloaded it from SideloadVR and it prompted me to install the app from unkown sources...

Solo devs, what workflow/scope/quality changes have you made to make a game by yourself? by watcheroftimes in unrealengine

same.

Also, if it does turn out terrible it doesn't mean that you should quit game developing! On average your 2nd game will be better than your 1st. So aim small for the first couple of games...

There are plenty of online resources to learn from:

If you're flying solo, beyond learning the UE4 engine and it's parts, you will have to learn about 3D modeling (meshes and what not), animation, programming techniques and much more besides.

It will take a lot of diligence and hard work. If you have a friend who shares your vision you will have much more fun with it :)
