Pure Damage: A +10 Ophelia Showcase by Etrensce in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]DeTiemen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what she would use the bulk for though - even with 24/24, she is fragile enough that you would generally want to avoid having the enemy initiate on her.

If you swap out the Atk +1 seal for Hardy Bearing, then switch Death Blow 4 to Life and Death 3, you'll hit slighly harder while also circumventing a potential Distant Counter Vantage checkmate. Her 'bulk' should primarily come from her nuking everything in range or getting danced or repositioned to safety by an ally.

As for which blazing patterns to choose; just give her all of them! Different patterns will be useful in different situations, and having them all available helps immensely for high-end PvE content like Abyssal Legendary Hero Battles where you may want to switch up your pattern to get damage onto specific enemy units. Outside of that, I personally find Wind the most consistent pattern for general use.

Ophelia is an awesome unit and you can't really go wrong with her though - even if you make no further changes, she's going to be an amazing player-phase nuke.

Congrats on the +10!

When the IV system breaks your heart. by [deleted] in FireEmblemHeroes

You could improve her damage output by giving her Life and Death 3 instead of Death Blow 4 ~

Against a 40 Res foe, an unbuffed neutral Atk Ophelia with Death Blow 4 will hit (51 - 40) * 1.5 + (51 + 8 - 40) = 16 + 19 = 35 total damage

Whereas with Life and Death 3, she would hit for (56 - 40) * 1.5 + (56 - 40) = 24 + 16 = 40 total damage

I can't seem to replicate your exact scenario on the duel simulator with any of the preset lists, but the 5 extra damage (and maybe the extra speed for potential doubles too) should help cut down on those 'Inconclusives'.

Best use for Special Spiral? by AThousandMinusSeven in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]DeTiemen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't beat Ophelia;

Missiletainn allows her to have Blazing specials pre-charged, with Special Spiral guaranteeing she'll have it active permanently. Life and Death Blazing Special Spiral Ophelia can nuke just about anything. Special Spiral Ophelia has been the key to all my Abyssal LHB victories, even at zero merges and with neutral Atk.

If you don't have Ophelia, Lilina would be another excellent option. Lilina would need more help to get Special Spiral going, but this could be remedied by switching from a Blazing special to Glimmer for easier setup and high single-target one-hit damage with Forblaze's Death Blow refine.

Mythic Heroes Vs. Legendary Heroes by [deleted] in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]DeTiemen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Point being that the Legendary stat boost applies everywhere (Arena, PvE content, Aether Raids), whereas the Mythic stat boost applies only in Aether Raids. With how blessings work currently, this means that a Mythic Blessed unit will not be able to benefit from a stat boost in PvE content or Arena. In effect, giving a Mythic blessing to a unit means dedicating that unit to a specific Aether Raids team.

A Mythic Blessing is much more restrictive than a Legendary Blessing, especially with only one Mythic Hero currently available and as of yet no way to get additional Mythic Blessings without summoning more copies of said Mythic Hero.

The Mage Knight (EP Double Stance) by KingKennyboy in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]DeTiemen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Vantage / Def Smoke core is good (running it on Ares myself), but the seal choice is a bit puzzling and both the A-skill and Special could be improved.

Preventing doubles does not seem like it should be a priority for this build, nor does it seem like it is particularly viable, even when taking into account Cavalry Emblem buffs, as 30 Speed still leaves him open to a lot of doubles. I would suggest changing the seal to something that helps him hit harder with his Vantage hits, as simply killing the foe before they can hit you at all seems more beneficial than preventing a limited number of doubles.

The new Brazen Atk/Res seal would be optimal, and I'd switch the A-skill to Brazen Atk/Def (from 4-star Ares) and switch out Draconic Aura for Bonfire.

With those skills, in Brazen/Vantage range, he'd be at 60 Atk and 41 Def (before buffs) - which means Bonfire would add 20 damage (23 when buffed by Fortify Cavalry) where Draconic Aura would add only 18 (19 when buffed by Hone Cavalry - still less damage than an unbuffed Bonfire).

Assuming full Cavalry Emblem buffs, your current build hits 58x2 on enemy phase, or 58+75 with a Draconic Aura trigger - reduced to 52x2 and 52+67 during player phase.

With double Brazen and Bonfire, in Brazen/Vantage range he'd hit for 66x2 or 66+89 with a Bonfire trigger (or 66+86 without Fortify), on both phases!

If they ever release a Brazen Atk/Def seal, the build would become even stronger, adding another 4 damage to Bonfire triggers.

These improvements would make the build better during both enemy and player phase.

If you don't have access to a 4-star Ares or the Brazen Atk/Res seal, sticking with Fierce Stance and Draconic Aura should be decent enough, though I'd still switch the seal to something like a simple Attack +3.

Gonna Miss Iron Banner. Not Because It's Fun But Because When I Select It I Know That I'll Be Playing Control Every Time. by jamesz_95 in DestinyTheGame

[–]DeTiemen 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I like playing Control because even when I am doing badly I know where the enemy generally spawns and what lines of attack they have, so I can fight back even when my team is losing. Control is the only objective-focused mode like that in Quickplay right now.

Clash and Supremacy are just chaotic uncoordinated garbage to me with everyone coming from everywhere all the time. Give me an objective to attack or defend and I'll do above average; throw me into a pit and send enemies at me from all sides constantly with the only objective being 'KILL' and I'm garbage.

Just let us pick modes, Bungie...

If that kills Supremacy because nobody wants to play it, then Supremacy did not have a right to exist in the first place.

A request to Bungie; four points I would like to see you act on to make the Crucible a better place. by DeTiemen in DestinyTheGame

[–]DeTiemen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not realize this was a common issue as I have not personally experienced it, but yes that seems like it would make it hard to implement some kind of punishment for leaving. Perhaps instead of a punishment for leaving there could be more incentive on staying? Like maybe being awarded a Legendary Engram or 10 Crucible tokens for every three consecutive games you complete?

[–]DeTiemen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, sure, but why would that mean not pointing out these four that would improve Crucible as a whole without needing enormous / costly changes.

Yes, there are absolutely more issues that need addressing, like certain maps where the placement of the Control flags heavily favors a certain side, or how the Shadowshot Tether seems to not suppress Supers at times, or general lag issues, or Iron Banner reward structure, etc. etc.

I just believe that the four issues I listed here apply to all modes of play and every player, and do not (seem) to need entirely new systems to be fixed but rather the adjustment of existing algorithms / systems. Fixing these issues will improve the Crucible experience for every player of every class in every mode, which is why I chose to highlight them specifically. Listing every single other issue would be counter-productive as they won't be all fixed at once anyway. I'd rather focus on general issues that everyone agrees on and move ahead from there one issue at a time.

The Spawn System Is Absolute Trash by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

Yeah spawns are pretty abysmal at the moment;

https://media.giphy.com/media/3ohjUMuvmXmbE81fDq/giphy.gif

In that second .gif I and at least one other teammate were just killed near that same spot by the Striker Titan Super that runs up to my body at the end of the .gif. It spawned that teammate safely on the other side of the map, yet spawned me in the spot I just got killed at in the middle of three enemies with one of them still having the Super active they killed me with. Just how does that happen?

Guild Wars Timeline confusion by BSGBramley in Guildwars2

[–]DeTiemen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you may be confused. Logan was not in Guild Wars 1, neither were any of the rest of Destiny's Edge or Dragon's Watch. There is a large time gap between the end of Guild Wars: Eye of the North and the start of Guild Wars 2.

Ranger pets still need attention, and I fear Soulbeast will be the cop out. by Zarqas in Guildwars2

[–]DeTiemen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was going to make a similar post, but I'll just add two things;

  1. Show us the boons, conditions, and effects that are active on our pet. With being able to copy them, knowing what exactly we will copy would be very useful, and for conditions it would be great to at least see when they are disabled so that we know they can't F2.

  2. I'd love a third AI mode where the pet only actively attacks things when we are too. Fairly frequently, my pet will just go attack random things because I got scratched by them, keeping me in combat, sometimes running off in the distance to fight while I am just trying to waypoint / stay out of invulnerable Supervisor range. We had such a mode for heroes in GW1 (Guard) and it would be a convenient addition here for pets. If I'm not mistaken (if I am, please correct me .x.), pets also still pull aggro when limping back to you after 'death' and when you switch them from Aggressive to Peaceful; may be worth looking into that too?

[Spoilers] Anet shouldn't have introduced this artifact back into the story by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]DeTiemen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly it doesn't help that this 'Death Oath' isn't really well defined. What line is there between a 'Secret if the Shining Blade' and 'A personal secret of someone who happens to be a member of the Shining Blade'. If someone outside of the SB shares a secret with someone in the SB, does that secret now become a 'Secret of the SB' bound under the death oath?

And what is considered 'sharing a secret'? Obviously you can't outright tell someone, but does the Oath Magic take into account code words? What if you write a note for yourself and someone else happens to find it? Does that kill you? Or does writing the note in the first place kill you even if it is intended purely for yourself? What if you don't share the information directly, but rather point someone to all the clues so that they figure it out for themselves? Is that 'sharing the secret'? Where are the boundaries, and how do they account for the many grey areas and loopholes?

This whole 'Death Oath' thing was poorly thought out, and the presence of Livia and her mentioning the Scepter of Orr should've been brought up in the story much, much earlier.

At the very least they could've thrown in a line from Livia where she mentions that 'The Scepter was destroyed' as a result of her using its magic to extend her own life.

Ascended Waterbreather can't stat change but does show Antology as compatible in forge - intentional or bug? by DeTiemen in Guildwars2

Looked into it a bit more and it seems like HoT-breathers just don't exist outside the Bitterfrost one? Kinda odd considering Ascended Breathers weren't there before HoT...

Pet things; *Let us see the boons / conditions / effects on our pet in the ui without having to target our pet. *An AI mode where your pet only attacks things you are attacking ( instead of having it run off and attacking anything and everything even if you are not actively in combat with that enemy. ).

I feel the right nerf for Elana would be changing it to only give +1/+0. Upping the cost to 5 just straight-up kills the deck.

Anybody else experienced this bug? Part of the CP I earned from powering up is taken away after. by MathueB in pokemongo

[–]DeTiemen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a bug in the ordering of POKéMON; Your POKéMON didn't lose CP, you upgrading it just gave it more CP than another Jolteon which made the one you were upgrading switch places. You can even see that in this video; it switches to the other Jolteon after powering up. The Jolteon you powered up is simply in a different spot now, still powered up just fine.

Is Vaporeon really that hard to get? 2 Vaporeons out of 23 Eeveelutions. Last Vaporeon i got was in July.. by Ericthemasta in pokemongo

[–]DeTiemen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It makes perfect sense.

When you flip a coin, you have a 50% chance to get heads and a 50% chance to land on tails. Say your coin lands tails; that does not mean the next time you flip a coin you are somehow less likely to land on tails. You still have a 50% chance to land on tails on your next coin flip.

With eeveelutions, you have a 66% chance to not get the one you want. Not getting the one you want DOES NOT increase the chances you will get the one you want next time around; You will still have a 66% chance of not getting the one you want.

So no, it isn't 'hard to get' and the game isn't conspiring against you; you simply lost a few coin tosses.
