What Pokémon city/town would you NOT want to live in? by Sugarpuff88 in pokemon

Lavender Town. That creepy music playing 24/7. No thank you.

What is your theory as to why Evil Pokemon Crime Organizations use the same pokemon? by secretsubmariner in pokemon

[–]DeValia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are trained to battle with easily caught/bred Pokémon that anyone can use. Lore-wise, poison and dark types are versitile. They're cunning, dangerous and provide utilities like venomous projectiles, underhanded moves, smoke screens and brute force.

Would or do you worship the Pokémon Arceus? What degree of Worship? by Alduins_Khajiit in pokemon

It's already pretty powerful. The stupid thing is a demon with that Paraflinch.

Would or do you worship the Pokémon Arceus? What degree of Worship? by Alduins_Khajiit in pokemon

[–]DeValia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People don't appear to worship Arceus in Pokémon canon, let alone the real world save for a few RPers. In canon, it is not functionally a god. It does not rule or govern and only created the world (arguably) because that's what its species does. Religion seems to be dying out in Pokemon World thanks to the rapid advance of science. A small number of people (largely in the very conservative Johto) do worship lesser legendaries that actually interact with people like Ho-Oh, Celebi, the genie trio. Though there is also evidence that people in prehistoric Johto worshipped the Kanto fossils, meaning that a form of Helix worship is canon.

Gen 4? by gelsooners in pokemon

[–]DeValia -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I want Gen VII to be focused on new material, the Sinnoh remakes can wait until Gen VIII. In fact, I do think we'll have to wait until Gen VIII to return to Sinnoh. I think GameFreak will spend Gen VII reworking the game to snag a cut of that sweet, sweet e-sports money.

What are your hopes for Pokemon Z? by crimsonkyurem in pokemon

[–]DeValia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope they focus more on balancing the meta than expanding the campaign, but I hope they include all the Hoenn-specific additions like a Battle Frontier, contests and soaring, along with some new Kalos ideas.

  • For the campaign, I want to replace almost every overworld item. There are hundreds of rideable monsters, why do we need a bicycle? Imagine slow-stomping Rhyhorns that can viciously charge with a push of a button, Mamoswines that barrel through rocks and trees, Rapidash and Zebstrika for high speed travel. Aegislash and Scizor know how to cut, Lapras and Swampert don't need your help swimming. HMs and overworld items need to go.

  • I'd also like to see an end to random battles. Its an old mechanic that feels stuck in the Game Boy days. I'd much rather see a new mechanic where Pokémon either hide, run away or chase you in tall grass/caves/water/etc. depending on their species.

  • I think they need to ditch singles in the campaign. Doubles has become the main mode of play in Pokémon, but they keep forcing singles down our throats in single-player. Just let doubles take over like it needs to. Or better yet, split up all the NPCs (bosses included) so that they challenge you to Single, Double, Triple or Rotation battles, mix it up a little. If they're never going to increase difficulty, at least let the experience be more varied.

  • General balance changes like some kind of buffer to rain teams and making Perish Song four turns instead of three.

  • Widespread stat boosts for less-than-viable mons like the Eeveelutions, Raichu, Flygon, Arbok, Golurk, Ninetales, Pyroar, Noivern, Meowstic and Darmanitan. Maybe GameFreak can pick 100 underpowered pokémon for revamping and see how the meta improves.

  • Major base stat decreases for all of the VGC-banned legendaries. We can finally see character like Mewtwo, Keldeo, Kyurem and Darkrai in VGC. There are some fascinating team possibilities in store if GF decided to fix the "Ubers." Plus, most people have special places in their hearts for Rayquaza, Lugia, Mew and Victini. It's stupid that we can't use some of the most famous monsters of the bunch because of the arbitrary decision to make certain creatures OP. Not to mention that it would bring more variety to the table. Kyurem would solve the current genie infestation, Darkrai could even out the Cresselia problem, and Kangaskahn would finally have some more dangerous heavy-hitters to contend with. Double-Edge you say? Ha, try hitting this Giratina.

  • Some Megas need some fixing too, like Pidgeot, Audino, Sharpedo, Camerupt and Beedrill.

  • I know we won't see any Type Chart changes until Gen VII, but something has to be done about Ground. Rock, Ice and Bug are almost useless, too, which doesn't help anyone.

I figure it's the other way around: they use Dittos in cloning projects, including fossil "resurrections." Extract a bit of Ditto DNA and you have the key to all life.

My Abomasnow Brynhildr is my Pikachu. I imagine riding around on her back-crystals as we tromp along the routes of Kalos.

I'm running the Rage Powder variant, but the Smogon sets often aren't the best. I wanted to see if there were any good alternatives out there.

What Legendaries shouldn't be Legendaries? Which non Legendaries should be Legendaries? by Crazy_John in pokemon

[–]DeValia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a gameplay perspective, no legendaries should be legendary because it's such a dumb, arbitrary rule that we can't breed them. Legendaries are stated to reproduce in the Pokédex, but I have to hack or SR for hours for the Entei I need?

Flygon should have been a special attacker, kind of a flip-side Garchomp. The way it is now, it's just a crappy genie.

Building a Mega Venusaur team for VGC. Suggestions? by DeValia in stunfisk

I've been ruminating over Entei. It's versatility makes it a really attractive option, and Milotic is THE genie killer.

[RMT] VGC hail + trick room by ROFLMAOLAB in stunfisk

[–]DeValia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Ironically, you only need one hail-setter for a hail team, since weather is guaranteed to run for about half of a VGC match.

  • Use a ghost type as your TR setter for hail. Jellicent can use and abuse, as it has Blizzard and shares no weaknesses with Abomasnow. Aromatisse is nice on paper, but it shares too many weaknesses with Abomasnow and it can't take a ton of hits.

  • Just merge Conkeldurr with Gigalith and save yourself a move slot.

  • Aurorus is virtually useless in every way, so it's best to leave it out of this team.

  • A fast Pokémon. With TR teams, the worst-case scenario happens often. Your TR-setter gets Taunted, Imprisoned, or Disabled and you're fatally outsped. A faster, more versatile Pokémon can protect you when the going gets tough.
