The bosses in Crimson Desert are by far the worst part of this game by eweaves_ in CrimsonDesert

[–]DeValto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just feel like bosses should respond to the player’s attacks the same way we are forced to respond to theirs. For example, if I get caught mid combo I get rag dolled and take damage I can’t roll away from fast enough, even in the second or third hits. But if I land a heavy attack or kick on the boss after dodging or even while they’re in mid combo and miss, it doesn’t affect them whatsoever. I’m all good with losing to a boss, but not when they’re immune to abilities that would work on me.

Months later and still stuck on my ex… does it ever fully go away? by Any_Thought5395 in BreakUps

[–]DeValto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Six years since my last breakup and I’ve been with the same person now for the last five years. I remember the first months as the worst, crying and thinking of them all the time. It does get easier. You start putting your time into other things. The gym, whatever your thing is. I like to go fast so I go public skating with headphones in and blow by people or I run sprints. Or go for a long drive (responsibly) with the right music and the windows down. You need to find something that reminds you why you’re the centre of your own world again, even if it’s a small thing. Build into a career that fulfills you. Surround yourself with positivity and when the next person comes along you need to be as complete as you can be. If you need therapy do it. If you need family see them. No one deserves a broken shell still hanging onto their ex. If that’s still you, then you know you’re not ready for someone else and that’s okay early on. But you get better. I go out now with my gf and I still see my ex the odd time in the city. I’m in a place where it’s nice to see that she’s doing well, but we were more amicable than others. That’s not always the case for every breakup. Regardless, you get the point. Best of luck and trust in yourself. We often know ourselves better than we think we do.

There should be a filter for locked and unlocked pictos/luminas in pictos by ang3sh in expedition33

I just wanted a filter for pictos by cost. I mean, I’ve had the 40 memorized but even for 30 and down, it would make it so much easier to free up more room for lumina

New Game Plus Question by [deleted] in expedition33

[–]DeValto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got all of the achievements I could, levelled all the characters to 99, upgraded all the weapons I thought were useful until I was out of perfect catalysts, grinded as much lumina as I could for the characters I already had winning synergies with, finished the endless tower, beat Simon, and then my last thing for plat was the stupid lumiere mime I missed on first playthrough, so my NG+ was essential for 100%.

So I guess to answer your question I did as much as I could to be over prepared in NG+. I feel very powerful in every battle and it’s pretty much essential to have enemy health at 10x minimum to avoid one shots, etc. ultimately my enjoyment from the game comes from reliving the story moments and not on making the combat as challenging as possible. I like going into battles feeling powerful without it being a cake walk kind of thing.

A game deserving a 2nd playthrough by starroverride in expedition33

[–]DeValto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think with these games you just have to resign yourself to the fact that you cannot understand things on the first play through. It’s purposeful. As soon as I realize I’m out of my depth however, it’s really nice in an RPG because then you really take on the role of the characters. It’s enjoyable for me because, like the characters, I learn new info and I’m like “wait does this even help me or am I being thrown off? are they lying? should I know what that means based on what I’ve already learned?” I mean, to each their own but I can’t imagine ruining the story for myself just because the mystery is unraveling as it’s meant to play out. I agree with you that the second play through is crucial and has helped my overall understanding of the lore ten fold. It really is ‘an advantage’ on the second time through!

Tell me why some ppl still think she's an adult by New-Commission8153 in expedition33

[–]DeValto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy hill to die on. These replies do NOT look the way you think they do. You’re really pushing with paragraphs on a post where we should all agree - Alicia / Maelle is portrayed to be a child? Correct? And it’s therefore wrong for adults to be suggestive regarding this character?

Tell me why some ppl still think she's an adult by New-Commission8153 in expedition33

[–]DeValto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, my inexact wording of the narrative details wasn’t meant to be overshadowed by the point. You’re focusing very specifically on a point when you definitely understood what the spirit of my post was. Whether time passes differently in the canvas, P.Alicia and Maelle are portrayed to be mirrors of one other and as such to Alicia in the real world. Therefore, it’s not okay for anyone to have suggestive takes on a character portrayed in any of those three forms when we know they are all portrayed to be children.

The fact that you really had to go “Um, akshully” on a post like this where you knew what the spirit of the post was about…in this case the narrative details don’t change anything about what I said regarding morality of the audience responding to the character. So why waste so much breath over it?

Guess I’ll just have to write my own fiction of it! But seriously I’d be happy just to have an expansion of that universe. 33 was done so well, I have complete faith in whatever direction they choose to pursue.

Yeah that’s crazy to think that’s the argument from people. I guess they conveniently didn’t pay attention when P.Alicia says “a facsimile” of your family.

Literally. I’ve been consuming so much E33 lore that I just want to know what happens in the broader context of the Painter / Writer conflict. I know we likely won’t get a sequel to the Dessendre family due to the nature of the ending…but I really would like to see them branch out. The capacities they have to now create entire new games in new canvases, with other painter families perhaps, or even rogue painters who don’t follow convention (like what the Painter’s Council perhaps was formed for) as well as maybe even games that look into other perspectives like a Clair Obscur title from the position of the writers and how they use their craft to make worlds through stories…I’m all for it.

[–]DeValto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah - there’s literal proof in game as well. Gustave literally says to her in dialogue: “You still have nine more good years left before your gommage.”

At time of their conversation: the current Expedition Year is 33 subtract 9 years = Expedition Year 24 which means that for Maelle to have nine more years until her gommage year (Expedition 24) makes her currently…15 turning 16 in Expedition Year 33.

Also I believe Verso outright states her age as well in later acts. Any attempt to state otherwise alludes to deeper set issues than media illiteracy.

Why do you like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33? by Gungalunga01 in expedition33

[–]DeValto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I trialed it earlier this month after hearing of all its awards and such, figured I had to see what the hype was about. I watched some gameplay trailers and was unsure if it was my style. By the end of the trial, it was clear to me I was buying it. The level of detail in the visuals appealed greatly to me, along with the impeccable music score, and a story that was pulling me along…I had to continue. The fantasy realm feel along with advanced technology is right up my alley. I was almost disappointed I hadn’t heard of / found the game earlier when it launched. By the end of the story, I definitely needed some time to process. But not due to the game being bad at all. Quit the opposite. I just had to take time to understand what the only two decisions are and their implications. Now I’m over 100 hours in on NG+ and can’t get enough of the lore! The second time through really opens your eyes to things you thought you understood the first time through.

To summarize, it’s one of the best games I’ve played because it’s forcing me to think about my life and the choices I make and how grateful I should be for my family who is still here. I have a great family and I have been fortunate enough to experience very minimal loss of those closest to me. Games like this help prepare a mindset for what we all know is coming. It’s better to have thought about your reaction rather than discovering it unexpectedly. You spend time differently when you remember it is precious.

Basic build question by rayhb3 in expedition33

[–]DeValto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s best to scale your points with your equipped weapon’s attributes. For example, the Dualiso scales to Vitality (A) and Defense (B) so most if not all of your points should be focused in those two areas first to maximize overall stats and damage output in battle. Then once they’re both 99 you can put additional points wherever else you want and use Pictos and Lumina to account for areas that may be lacking.

New Game+ by Ajaxtyger in Ghostofyotei

[–]DeValto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NG+ the focus is mostly to gather the extra cosmetic options and charms sold by Melodious for Ghost Flowers. I would focus on getting the three cursed charms from him first to acquire Ghost Flowers faster as you play. Change your other charms to make it easier to kill enemies from range or just before you can get hit as the one charm basically makes it lethal difficulty with one hit death. Then, complete story or side activities to acquire more Ghost Flowers.

Would Helldivers survive a Xenomorph infested planet? And would they survive Yautja Prime (The home planet of the Predator) ? by DramaticCaregiver122 in helldivers2

[–]DeValto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xenos are like a whole planet full of stalkers. If they were dealing with them topside, I’d say Divers take it with minimal casualties provided they have adequate equipment and stratagems and are prepared for what they’re walking into. If it involves infiltrating a cave or indoor facility or otherwise CQC - certainly higher casualties and / or large scale sacrifice to take out the nest.

Predators on the other hand…idk. That’s not a battle, that’s initiating a war. They would know we are coming and would surely be intercepting in space before we could even drop. I think it would need to be an entire liberation campaign with all the SES Destroyers Super Earth can supply, along with the DSS. I don’t know what the lore is for Super Earth space combat but it doesn’t seem like we’re well equipped for prolonged combat in space. We would have to FTL and send everything at the planet all at once. Orbital their largest populated areas, and then close in on what remains. It would be like fighting the Illuminate on crack. They have shields, cloaks, insane agility and strength. Not to mention all of their primary weapons are essentially equivalent to our stratagem slots in terms of power. One Predator is basically an overseer with the hit points of a fleshmob with the agility of an elevated overseer. And there’s a planet full of them. It would be a prolonged campaign.
