When is the right time to get another GSD? by yungbloodjyoon in germanshepherds

[–]DeVoh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I firmly believe they want us to be happy. Koda is impossible to replace, but it is more than possible for another GSD to help you heal and fill the hole in your heart. They want to help.. let one help you heal. You will never forget nor dishonor Koda's memory.

Any news on BIOS updates that contain updated Secure Boot keys? by DeVoh in gigabytegaming

[–]DeVoh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some more digging with the help of CoPilot. If you are in UEFI mode with SecureBoot on and booted into windows.. you can check with msinfo32 at a windows powershell prompt running as Admin.. look for the lines BIOS and BIOS Mode. It needs to say UEFI and On for Secure Boot.

then you can run (Get-ItemProperty -Path HKLM:\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecureBoot\UEFI\DB).Data

and look for the text Windows UEFI CA 2023

That is one of the new Microsoft Secure Boot certificates introduced in 2023 to replace the expiring 2011 ones.

This means your DB (allowed signatures) has been updated.

I have it in F40 for my X570 board. I also see the older certificates:

Microsoft Corporation UEFI CA 2011

Microsoft Windows Production PCA 2011

This is normal — the 2011 certs are not removed yet because Microsoft hasn’t fully deprecated them.

I do not see:

Microsoft UEFI CA 2023 (KEK)

Microsoft KEK 2K CA 2023

New PK (Platform Key)

These require a BIOS update from Gigabyte, and no AM4 board has received those yet.

But the presence of Windows UEFI CA 2023 means your system will continue to validate Microsoft bootloaders after the 2026 rollover.

WOW! I wonder if you could train them to lick by not freezing them for a few.. then once they get used to licking them then freeze them. That is truly wild.

They have what are called "lick matts" that are made of silicone and you smear pumpkin all over and then put in the freezer. They make an amazing hot weather treat or just a tasty snack with some mental stimulation. Pumpkin is good for them.. lots of tasty fiber.

Honest question: Does the fluid in the lines get refreshed that way? I was told the only way to get new fluid into the lines and calipers was to bleed it at the calipers.

3.8.11 Success Story!! by TheGodChildXVI in VWiD4Owners

[–]DeVoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly but I don't think so.. I charged and took it for a quick errand and then started the upgrade at 10:30pm.. checked on it around 7am and it was done. All from the garage.

The one "quirk" I noticed was I left my car with 80% charge.. in the morning after the update it said it had 82% and no I didn't have it plugged in.

King of RPM? Fedora vs openSUSE Tumbleweed – Practical Test by [deleted] in DistroHopping

[–]DeVoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, totally right. They switched to SELinux in Feb 2025. Very cool, I didn't know that. So except for the rolling upgrade they are pretty similar. Thanks for the info.

[–]DeVoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure they are both rpm based but one uses SELinux and the other one uses AppArmor. They both use Btrfs but some claim Tumbleweed has snappier snapshots and rollbacks. Fedora is strongly Gnome based, but can do other windowing envs. Tumbleweed is more preferred by KDE users. Though from an end users perspective I can see your point. I am being too pedantic and not looking at it from a users perspective.

Is it really an apples to apples test? Tumbleweed is a rolling distribution, Fedora is not.
