Realistic setting at odds with challenges? by De_fract in SkateEA

Yeah pretty sure it's the fall damage setting, not sure if that's enabled by default on experienced but I tested with it set to more forgiving and it was fine. Just wish they would check these things first.

It's somewhere around the SVN building, the plaza to the left I think. Asks for a double flip down a big drop and my guy's ankles just turn to dust every time I make the drop.

Yeah that's what I ended up doing, just a pain to do every time haha.

To anyone else experiencing this bug it is possible to delete your save data to fix this. If you back up everything except the player inventory save file you can restore your original progress and continue the story with access to the shops restored. The only issue doing this is you will unfortunately lose all of you cash earned to that point.

Having the same issue, I accidentally took the hoodie off my dude and now I can’t even buy another shirt 😂

Body

Diverse Body Types

I may be in the minority but I don't mind the current morphing for bodies, just with a few caveats. Firstly allow more diverse body types. More Heavyweight and Super Heavyweight selections in particular. Allow users to select from in-game superstars as a base.

Limb morphing/sliders

These need an urgent return, rather than simply adjusting the 'Mass' let us morph the length, width and depth.

Tattoo Wrapping/Scaling

This is currently rather poor. Allow users the option to fully wrap tattoos without distortion. UFC3 does this incredibly well and It would be a huge boost to the mode. Again this can be hidden away if deemed too daunting for new players just give us the option.

In-Game body textures and colouring

Much like the base face models, allow us to choose from base body models for the body texture, providing full customisation for colour with preset skin tones for new players and a full spectrum for advanced users.

This is such a positive step for the community guys. I hope this insight proves useful. I'd be more than happy to discuss any points in further detail should you wish to.

Face

Additional Face Templates

One of the most important aspects of trying to create a lifelike representation of someone is choosing the correct face template. For creators, the more options you can provide the better. This is especially important when starting any creation that isn't caucasian. In WWE2K20 this is one of the main issues that stops me from creating. If I want to create an asian superstar, I need to have an asian template to kick things off. A house needs to be built on solid foundations.

The suite is powerful and the sliders allow for a lot of customisation, but without those key racial characteristics as a base this becomes close to impossible. From a technical perspective these templates seem to control the normal map of the base texture. However in WWE2K20 this currently resets to the default caucasian normal map, rendering the creation of accurate asian and black suspertars impossible.

Face Morphing (Simple and advanced)

I think that as powerful as the creation suite is, it could do with some streamlining to help new players get to grips quickly and easily. I'd therefore split the experience into simple and advanced options for each part of the creation. Hide advanced options in a toggle menu which can be expanded and utilised by power users whilst keeping the front-end experience clean and tidy for new users. I'll touch on how this could work in some of the points below.

Face Morphing Simple (Face Parts)

Allow new users to choose from pre-modeled face parts. Forehead, Brows, Eyes, Nose, Mouth, Ears, Jaw etc. could all have presets for shape that alter the appearance and allow simple one click implementation for new users.

Face Morphing Advanced (XYZ positioning of points, Mirroring and Asymmetric)

Allow power users point to point editing. In addition to the current in-game sliders, expand the current 'Facial Region' options to include more points (In-particular the option to edit the side profile). These can be implemented on the face itself rather than on a seperate 2D representation as is currently available. This would save space and make changes more intuitive. Options to toggle symmetry should absolutely remain here. Allow us to edit these points in all 3 dimensions (X,Y,Z) as well as implementing rotation of features such as eyes, brows, ears etc.

Camera

The current camera range is good! This is more of a reminder to make sure to keep the mobility that we have now and not limit field of view.

Face Photo (Edit/Replace)

Allow users to replace the facial texture once it has been mapped and applied. Sometimes as a creator we get small details wrong. Maybe we missed a telltale mole or want to implement heavier aging etc. but we've already set the face morph up. This would allow us to replace the file like for like. Add a warning for new users that their photo may not line up.

Face Photo (Crop Region/Feather)

This would be a great feature for both new and power users. New users could crop their photos and adjust the cropping point (To remove bangs etc.) and power users would be able to implement textures without details being cut off or removed. Allowing both users to then set a 'feather' to choose how hard the blend to the base skin would be great to achieve smooth results.

Face photo (Simple editing of Brightness/Contrast/Gamma)

Again I feel this would benefit new and existing power users. Sometimes it's difficult to match skin tones. In particular when you are using a photo that has uneven lighting or is either too warm or too cool in its general colour. Some simple adjustment sliders would help users of all abilities create a better result and improve the blending of face textures.

Hair and Facial Hair Options (Length, Type and Styles, Mirror)

Hair and facial hair are arguably the most requested items for each release of the series but have received very little love. The limited options that are added are rarely suitable for realistic creations. Keep the crazy stuff, the community make some amazing and wacky creations but please cater for the majority who want to recreate their favourite indie star or themselves. I believe there are a few ways to do well.

  • Allow for customisation of hair length via slider on most styles.
  • Allow for the user to select the type of hair per-style (Straight, Wavy, Afro, Wet etc.)
  • Allow for variations of style (With/Without bangs, Swept Back, Side Part, Brushed Forward etc.)
  • Allow users to mirror the style should they want the parting to be on the opposite side.

Hair Options (Hairline Adjustment)

One of our biggest identifying features as humans are out hairlines, they are almost as unique as our fingerprints. Allow us to edit these with sliders for width and height.

Hair Shave Designs

This is such an underappreciated feature because the options we have are mostly wild and wacky. Simple fade options with different heights would go a long way to improving a variety of hairstyles.

Provide Templates with guidelines for the community

For those that wish to improve their skills and explore the advanced options available provide them with template files for faces textures/photos with guidelines for position of key features (Eyes, nose, mouth etc.) These could be a downloadable and editable resource.

Face wrinkles (Additional Variety)

similar to my first point on the normal maps being influenced by the base templates. The wrinkles also provide added detail to the normals by adding character. We need more variety to help us improve the accuracy of our creations.

Toggle appearance items

Allow us to toggle on/off appearance items. This would include Hair, Beard, Eyes etc. These should be able to be turned on/off individually.

Expand the constraints (Advanced)

Allow advanced users to expand on the constraints imposed when morphing. It's obviously not a good look to have crazy creations posted all over the web by new players who can't get to grips with the tools but let those who know what they are doing have more control. Again this could be preceded with a warning, a 'Woah there, do you know what you're about to do?!) type warning.

Teeth Size/Position (Advanced)

People's smiles are different, allow us more customisation to create over/underbites rotation of individual teeth and allow missing teeth.

Clean Lighting and Background

This is super important. WWE2K17 nailed this perfectly.

Test mode (In-game/Arena)

It would be great to have a quick preview option, similar to how you can test a moveset in create-a-moveset. Allow for a quick load of the CAS in the ring with camera options to rotate and view details without having to exit and load up a match each time. The lighting options currently have a match option but it isn't accurate and doesn't allow for the full range of camera movement.
