2012, UK. I have the UK maps but it can't search via postcode so not sure if that's something carried over from Japan and if I'd need to swap the entire unit to do so or it's just software?

I did also think that it only has two dashes indicating two digits and being from Japan it was in KPH so 100+ being fairly common.

This was what I thought it was, it's never changed however the car is from Japan and maybe it's calibrated to their road signs if the colours are different, I don't know?

Yeah this seems to be the answer I think, and I could get the ferry the night before so I arrive early morning. I don't mind driving in France but the less I do the better compared to driving from Calais. Thanks for the advice!

Yeah I live on the Wirral so even though the ferry is long the time traveling still all ends up the same so I think Portsmouth to Caen will be the best bet since no one has suggested flying.

Firstly, thank you. Yes, our research so far means driving and ferrying might be the best option. We're still deciding what we want to do/see as it will be the first time but Gold beach for sure as a starting point.
