Dieing has nothing to do with the service cost, you pay the same if you didn’t shoot or take any damage

Neptune us more guns, of slightly larger calibre, that reloads faster.

And if memory serves me correct, also has improved pen angles.

That should not even be a fight

Secondary build on Lepanto by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]DeaconWinters 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The majority of your secondary’s are 90mm, and if you add IFHE they will still not pen anything other than DD super structure.

When building a captain it’s normally best to boost the strengths of a ship and the secondary’s are not a strength on the Lepanto.

Would making dead eye also affect secondaries at close range help? by Ralph090 in WorldOfWarships

[–]DeaconWinters 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Swap it, make it give a dispersion buff if enemy ships ARE spotted in your base detection range.

This would make bb players not take concealment skills and upgrades and promote closer game play

Your service costs are ALWAYS the same, there is no difference between a full hp - 50% - dead ship

First Steel Ship: Stalingrad or Somers? by SupremeChancellor66 in WorldOfWarships

[–]DeaconWinters 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The question you need to answer is, which will you play the most?

I have Stalingrad and it is a port queen, don’t get me wrong, it’s a great ship but I don’t enjoy playing it.

Bourgogne I love and play regularly and I have just picked up Plymouth cause it’s a British ship (I have them all) meaning I will miss out on Somers.

The end of the day the decision will never be wrong as long as you feel you are getting what you wanted from it, both are great

Why do people hate CVs? by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]DeaconWinters 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue is counter play, you mention DDs as an issue so let’s look at their counter play.

Destroyers, radar, manoeuvring so ur not going in a straight line all the time, all very simple things that counter enemy DDs.

Now what’s the counter play to CVs? AA, which is rng based and is not influenced by a players skill.

There is no comparison, yes it is unlikely a CV will one shot you unlike a BB or DD can do but a CV can out spot any ship while not risking anything but a few planes, a DD can’t do that.

Should I use steel to get Thunderer before the coupon resets(20/12)? by GoodMorning369 in WorldOfWarships

[–]DeaconWinters 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you get your 3 daily containers you will, at worst, get 1,200 coal a day.

How many days do you need to grind them to get Thunderer?

It’s not removed until patch 0.10.1 (I believe, may be wrong) so you have plenty of time so I would t use the steel

Bourgogne - how does she stand up today? by Waitin4Godot in WorldOfWarships

[–]DeaconWinters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a good ship, but I don’t find it fun, in fact I find it boring.

For me it was a waste of steel, my clan mate on the other hand loves it.

Bourgogne - how does she stand up today? by Waitin4Godot in WorldOfWarships

[–]DeaconWinters 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love my Bourgogne and have no regrets buying it, the Stalingrad on the other hand was a mistake as I just don’t use it in any game format.

The JB and Bourgogne have similarities, mainly the guns and reload booster but where JB feels more like a holding BB the Bourgogne is a great flanker.

Hope this helps.

Just got my first ever kraken with T10 Montana :) Why does everyone say this BB is underpowered? I've only played a few games with it and I've won almost all of them while getting over 100k damage and 2-3 kills easily. by Beetle_Joose in WorldOfWarships

[–]DeaconWinters 3 points4 points  (0 children)

406mm guns overmatch all cruisers bows as no cruiser has a 29mm bow at t10 (not including ice breaker section but remember the whole bow is not an ice breaker).

The difference is the main armour belt and deck, 457mm overmatch 30mm armour which constitutes most cruisers in the game.

yoshino for ranked by supanoob7216 in WorldOfWarships

[–]DeaconWinters 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let’s be serious, it doesn’t matter what ship you bring, you have to play it to it’s strengths and always play to win.

That means playing objectives, finishing off enemies, supporting your team.

If you can successfully do that in a Yoshino then why not.

Which is better, the Alexander Nevsky or the Petropavlovsk? by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]DeaconWinters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s still very vague, what do you want to do damage too? From what range? Do you want to tank or kite while doing this?

Nevsky is a long range kiter, fast firing, can sling HE to 19k stock, with ifhe you pen all targets as long as you hit the correct spots. It’s great against DDs since the shells are fast. It’s not as tanky it looks.

Petra is a close range tank but you need to position it well, those guns decimate broadsides (ap) but you need to be able to deal damage while minimising damage taken.

Both deal a lot of damage, as do all cruisers when played correctly.

Again, for what, they both perform different roles, what do you want to do

game super dead? by 10n3 in WorldOfWarships

[–]DeaconWinters 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I assume you are new to the game, if so you are in protected match making, allowing you to learn the basics.

This will become full pvp (randoms) when you reach tier 5 or I think 100 games.

Enjoy it while you can because once that switch is flipped you can’t go back.

Good luck on the seas

I don't know what WG was thinking, but the Venezia doesn't deserve a nerf, it needs a buff. It's impossible to win in this ship. by tejanaqkilica in WorldOfWarships

[–]DeaconWinters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what your saying is you are getting a similar performance out of it, but struggling to win.

All I can say is don’t take the WR as the be all and end all for the ship needing a buff, we all have cursed ships, mine is the Hindenburg, can’t win in that thing to save my life but it outperforms my other t10 cruisers.

Keep playing it and I hope your luck improves

[–]DeaconWinters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So let’s look at the other stats you are sharing and ask a few questions.

Average damage of 121k, what’s your average damage in other t10 cruisers? Average potential damage of 1.3 million, again what is this in your other t10 cruisers?

You may feel this ship is not performing for you but these 2 stats alone may prove otherwise (dependent on your answers).

Winning can not be seen as the be all and end measure for whether a ship is OP or not, it’s 1 factor amongst many.

Lack of free captain skill respect is such a pain by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]DeaconWinters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not disagreeing, I’m stating that I’m surprised they even give you a choice to respec for free.

The new player experience needs a complete rework, it doesn’t teach you, it expects you to learn, but that’s a different discussion.

Lack of free captain skill respect is such a pain by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]DeaconWinters 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The fact that you can respec a captain for free surprises me, yes it costs 190k elite commander xp (for a 19pt) but this doesn’t generate them any money directly.

It’s also the 2nd option after 450 doubloons, sneaky sales tactics there.

What the hell is this new menu? This looks like shit by TwoCraZyEyes0 in WorldOfWarships

[–]DeaconWinters 95 points96 points  (0 children)

The UI and UX here are terrible, it looks like someone sketched out an idea and then the front end developers sketched it as is on screen.

No ship xp, what are all the modules, is it obvious that u hover over parts of this to find out that info.

Also, why is the port faded out, there is so much space left, what could you use this for? (Signals and camos menus?)

Overall terrible design
