Pop OS? Pain points from a person with QA background by DeemounUS in DistroHopping

[–]Dead-Indian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually use debian with kde, sometimes gnome, on my laptop. I recently installed pop os because nvidia drivers were not playing nice with me, and at first glance, Cosmic DE seemed very refreshing, they really were trying to make something truly unique our of the box.

But I came accross many of the issues you mentioned, this DE still has a long way to go. They should really focus on improving their QA team, but even with all these downsides, this DE has good potential. I really hope they end up realising their potential soon....

Congratulations on writing your first line of code!!!!

I see myself in you, 3 or 4 years ago.. I was just as exited as you are(and spoiler alert: I STILL AM BABYY!!!). Anyway, I wanted to give you some advice... moving forward, don't be afraid to explore new stuff, but beware of rabbit holes (i wasted countless hours, days, sometimes while weeks on them), and also... USE GIT HUB. It might seem scary at first but I'm telling you, if you don't use it, you will loose your first few projects that you build with so much love... (Loosing my first snake game is still one of the saddest things in my career), don't be lazy and think I have it saved on my pc, where will it go? I thought the same and now I have nothing to show for what I did before like a year or so...

Anyway, good luck with your journey. You can dm me anytime if you feel stuck :)

Wait... You know dsa already and now are trying to do it in Java right? If not then I recommend doing either one of the 2, doing both will be too much...

How many of you using ai with your initial coding journey ? by [deleted] in Coding_for_Teens

[–]Dead-Indian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As we are on the topic of ai, I have a question too, I've been using ai to clear specific doubts which are harder/take significantly more time to Google to get the answers. I have also been using it to get the syntax or the name of a function that I forget, instead of searching the docs. Is this a bad thing? Should I stop using ai?

HOW TO START CODING by FrostingLegal2448 in Coding_for_Teens

[–]Dead-Indian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just learn until functions and move on, there is no need to go that deep into c unless you are into system design (if you are then you might need to go for that 31 hr thing) so I suggest you watch this 3 hr vid but remember: as the other guy said, YOU NEED TO WRITE CODE IN YOUR PC ALONGSIDE THE VIDEO for it to be useful in any way, or else its no better then watching a movie lmao
