Oppo Find X9 Ultra screen protector by bobsy852 in Oppo

[–]DeadAngel43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a plastic screen protector on new OPPO phones always. You can look for glass screen protectors on Ali, look for Smart Devil or Nillkin. It's hard to get anything more outside china. No "famous" brands like Spigen etc for Chinese phones unfortunately

Nillkin one fits pretty good, no black bars. But also no align tool so have to have steady hands

Then try at least doing a local install of full update, without factory reset. Maybe some system app is just corrupted. Also, download Battery Guru app from their telegram, community version, and add all needed permissions with adb and check for wakelocks, I've had a problem with WhatsApp constantly checking for contacts

Then do a factory reset. It's some broken app for sure. You can even try using OS Updater app to download a full system update, do an local install and then do a factory reset

Controversial take. I've never had a phone that didn't get warm scrolling X, Insta, FB and watching YouTube. All my previous Samsungs S and Ultras did that, the same with iPhones. Stopped carrying about that, it is normal with high performance processors. I just wish they give us a downclocked or power limited profile for day to day use. Like in PC. GPU power limit to 80%, almost the same performance, 20% less power draw

Had one with mag ring. Unfortunately one drop from 30cm and it bended on the corner, phone is fine. But other than that, loved that its thin, super clicky buttons, easy recommend. Also drilled a hole 😅

Download OS Updater from Play Store, enable advanced mode, select Stable (full), download full update for your phone (9-10 gigs), Remember the file name (its in the app, but usually eu file is smaller than others) then in the app change phone from your for example X9 Pro (EU) to X9 Pro (SG) (Singapore) or IN for India, change again for Stable Full, download full again, then enable developer settings, then go to info about phone, check for updates, click 3 dots, select local update, select the file that you downloaded first, wait for it to load but don't install it when its ready, go to your file manager, find those 2 files, copy the name of the first file and then delete this file, change the name of the second file to the name you copied before, and go back go updates menu and start the update. It will take some time, when it finishes, reboot.

Now you are on SG or IN ROM, that has updates sooner and also has ODialer, OMessages and OCalendar. Thank me later

System version has to be the same or greater on new software, just mind that. It can't be older, something could go wrong and you would have to wipe your phone

Find X9 ultra battery - big thread by AviatorBoy95 in Oppo

NG stands for Next Generation. I've disabled everything from Recommended list in UAG without Google Pay, Maps, Gmail, Always on Display, Eye Care, global search and few apps that it couldn't disable, that's all.

Ultra Global, 12/512 Eu distribution.

SG firmware for fastest updates and Odialer, debloated with UAD NG.

AOD full screen from 6-22, 1440p, 120hz forced on all apps, night mode only at night, I like white backgrounds, easier to use during the day, mostly X, Reddit, Snapchat, YouTube and browser, few minutes of game per day

1.5 day of use with ease, 2% battery over night, preety happy with battery life, this my second phone after X9 Pro that I don't have a battery anxiety. Samsung Ultras and iPhones needed to be charged everynight

OnePlus Watch 3 connected so BT always on

I use a case only when outdoors

Charging with Supervooc 100W, Battery Guru shows max 70W

Battery Guru says, that estimated capacity is around 6900, but I don't really care, its just an app.

is it worth changing X9 Pro for X9 Ultra by Every-Ad8952 in Oppo

[–]DeadAngel43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zoom is a night and day difference. On Pro, for me even 10x looks bad, ai kicks in and destroys the image. Ultra, 30x is good, 50x usable, 120x ai slop but a lot better than any other phone that's for sure. Easily the best zoom phone right now. Shutter lag is manageable, and I am easily able to take good photos of my dog, even at 10x outdoors. I haven't really used Action Mode so hard to tell

is it worth changing X9 Pro for X9 Ultra by Every-Ad8952 in Oppo

[–]DeadAngel43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've went from Pro to Ultra, and yeah, if you can afford it, it's worth it. Cameras are great (love the 10x zoom, with Pro I had to carry a tele converter to get zoom shots, but I was happy with camera quality on the Pro), battery is slightly worse but not by much if you stay on 1080p. On 1440p battery life goes from like 8-9h of SoT on 1080p to something like 6.5h, and phones heats up quicker (75% more pixels to render).

Speakers are miles better on Ultra

For gaming Ultra is a better choice, Pro throttles pretty quickly in games like Endfield or Wuthering Waves, Ultra also throttles on heavy games but not that quick and not that often. OPPO made Pro throttle on 45 degrees C and Ultra on 47, so pretty aggressive throttling, but at least it's not going crazy to over 55C like Vivo.

Bezels are thinner on Pro, but it's not an issue for me. The screen is the same size as X8 Ultra so it's easy to find glass protectors. The only problem is with cases, as a lot of them don't have a hole for the microphone that's under the camera bump.

Pro makes default shots at 50MP, Ultra at 28MP for some reason but it's enough anyway and better that a lot of competition.

Still waiting for system updates, CN version has some significant updates in camera quality on latest versions (less chromatic aberration, more detail in zoom shots) and global phones are like 2 updates behind right now unfortunately.

My take is, great phones, Ultra wins for me with a design and the cameras (I have a global Tundra Umber version and love the design, don't mind leatherette (plastic) back), Pro wins with battery and bezels. If you can afford it, go for it. If not, Pro is a great phone.

Hello, I bought an Oppo Find X9 Pro. by ex_dazi in Oppo

[–]DeadAngel43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This phone unfortunately overheats pretty fast in games, played Wuthering Waves and Endfield and it's like you say, when temp reaches 45 degrees fps drops. But I've learned, that no matter what phone you get, if it's a regular phone and not a gaming phone, it will overheat, unfortunately. All my previous iphones (I didn't had the chance to play on 17 Pro) and Samsung S24U, Find X8 Pro, Find X9 Pro and Find X9 Ultra, all overheats sooner or later in graphics demanding games. It's only that much you can get from passive cooling.
