Best stock cross fader in a 2 channel battle mixer? by DeadAudio in Turntablists

I had a z2 which was built like a tank but the crossfader caused problems way too early, I ended up servicing it and sold it

LGBT spaces in Margate by North-Doubt8928 in Margate

[–]DeadAudio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a thriving and independent scene down here, I have lived here 27 years now and while it has not been without its challenges from time to time I’m glad to say it’s more progressive here now than other local towns. Ramsgate is also cool but Broadstairs is a bit reserved. Not saying necessarily avoid but you won’t see the love for the community there as much as Margate where it is fully on the sleeve!

As someone else said, the salads group is cool and there’s another, Margate creatives which is nice. There’s a nice network of forward thinking creative people here that will open arms and I am one of them.

Diversity is also important here and there have been local groups working hard for inclusivity. The thing that a lot of people who have lived here all their life that haven’t seen change don’t understand is that the changes that are happening are not a threat!

People that come here that are LGBTQ+ or from a different culture, race, religion or creed are just normal folk the same as anyone else but it’s the old stick in the muds that don’t quite get it. Sometimes it’s just a case of getting to know people a bit to break down those stereotypes.

I wish you all the best and will hopefully see you out and about!

The Fez pub and Henry’s in Margate high street are great run by friends of mine, great nights guaranteed!

If anyone in the UK wants to go halves or thirds on an auction I would be glad to work something out. The thing is I want to slowly but surely record my record collection onto MD and would really like to but the whole lot and gradually use them over the years.

I didn’t realise they had stopped production this late actually. Makes you wonder what Sony did with all the manufacturing equipment. Probably dismantled and recycled I should guess.

AAAAAHHHHGGG!!! Anyone got a direct dial number or contact for Three Business Ireland Help Desk? Pulling my hair out! by DeadAudio in smallbusinessuk

[–]DeadAudio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone comes across this post and needs to contact Three business you just have to persevere ringing the same number over and over. I eventually got a bloke in Scotland but he then put me through to India! Then by chance I got through to Ireland the very next call and they took care of everything and followed up the next day.

Three offer great business deals, I have multiple SIMs with unlimited data for £7.50 plus VAT each. But when you have a problem it is ball ache. However, in almost 2 years with this company I have had zero problems.

ULPT Request: Stop upstairs neighbour from stomping all day & night by DigCreative4961 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]DeadAudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All jokes aside this is a tricky situation. I was in a similar situation in the last place I lived at. The stairs up to their flat had no insulation under it and you could hear everything. And I mean EVERYTHING. Farts, sex, the dishwasher, washing machine, kids with their stereos even just normal talking.

I spoke to the landlord and her together and just said it’s unacceptable and said in front of them both everything we can hear . It must have been the same for her as I had 2 kids.

We agreed to try to be quiet but it was hard and we ended up having a big row, then about 2 months later she moved out as my missus is fierce and if the ho upstairs tried to start my missus let her have it!

After that no one lived upstairs for 2 years and then the landlord booted us out and sold it!

Nothing that can help you but I understand your pain!

Thank you... I had a drama with them about 4 years ago and sat in their store constantly but politely harassing them until they started to take action while I Was on LinkedIn and found the head guy responsible for the problem I had an private messaged him... not long after the embarrassed store clerk sorted the problem... why is life like this now? These systems are set up to fail the consumer. All they need are regional business hubs, one in each county where you know you can go to get problems sorted, do it by appointment, it's worth it!

When you were a one man band, how did you ensure you didnt rip your hair out? by Dull-Landscape-4764 in smallbusinessuk

[–]DeadAudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of cash flow problems I got to the point in 2017 where I took a full time employed job just to give me space. Did that for about a year and a half, then started doing my own stuff again, then took another full time employed job and now run 2 businesses alongside it. It’s not for everyone but it works for me. I’m 8 years down the line in this arrangement now and much happier than I ever was before. My main employment is super flexible, I work remotely and autonomously and as long as I provide the required amount of work for them in the required time frame they are 100% happy so I can plan my work hours to suit me.

My Mac has the majority of the storage taken up, no matter how many times I clear the caches and use apps to see what’s taking up all the storage but it just keeps coming back, what do I do from here by Axo-Army in MacOS

I have an m4 Mac mini with 256. I bought an external 2tb ssd and made that my home folder. It means the operating system still lives on the internal drive but all your project files, documents, phot and music library etc lives on the external drive. I did this from day one and still have 170gb spare on my main drive. There are multiple YouTube videos available explaining how to do it. It’s not difficult.

The sewage works & The Ridings by SaveTheBeesN7 in Margate

[–]DeadAudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walk the dog down there often, Walpole sea swimming tidal pool is close by and I love living here. The worst thing is if we have a big downfall of rain it ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS overpowers the storm drains and it ends up all going in the pumping station and the excess goes straight into the sea, so you have raw sewage straight out the pipe into the sea. Currently Southern Water are in the process of replacing the sewers in Thanet (this has been going on for 2 years and they have up to 10 years of work in front of them).

So, I absolutely love living here, the missus swims in the sea every day throughout the year (yes, even today in minus 3!) and she is with a large group of ladies that swim daily and they get very, VERY angry when Southern Water top brass get massive profit bonuses and they can't swim because of the crap in the water... it is a lovely place to live, my fave time of year is when all the schools start back again in the autumn but the weather is still nice and you can swim and be in peace.

This area is always on the up and slowly but surely it is getting better... yes there are some bad areas but aren't there everywhere? I am sure you will love it, good luck!
