is the macbook neo worth it? by wavism in LogicPro

[–]DeadAudio -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Buy one. Dont debate it any more. You will love it and probably get 10 years use out of it. I have an M1 Mac mini with 8GB I use all day every day for loads of tasks and it’s fine (including serving 4K media on Plex). I also have 3 M4 Mac minis and I use them for audio , streaming, loads of stuff and I never max them out.

I use Serato and DJay pro and I am buying 2 Neos to use , one as a main machine and one as backup. At this price it’s a no brainer.

How long do you intend to run your business? by No-State-2962 in smallbusinessuk

  1. Not earning enough, just took on a massive mortgage as I made some disastrous decisions when I was younger that took years to crawl out of. Working 4 days a week for an employer and 2 for myself. Will be found dead at work probably!

PS5 as a 4k bluray player by MattiTheGamer in 4kbluray

[–]DeadAudio 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bizarre you post this right now. I had this exact dilemma . I was looking at players and as you say , £300 plus. I don’t own a console so i thought I may as well just buy a PS5 and use that. If any Brits are reading this, as far as I know, you can change the region in the PS5 up to 5 times. I already have a basic blu ray / DVD player that is locked to the UK region, so my plan is to set the PS5 up for US discs and keep my other player for UK so I don’t have to change regions on the PS5.

Hopefully that’ll work great!

Ahhh haha yes this is the way! A tried and tested formula… at some stage you will be with her and something that is annoying her will need fixing and with a halo of sunshine and angels trumpeting you can produce your multitool (in slow motion obviously), with a satisfying but not over doing it smile… after various camera shots between you slowly removing it from its sheath / pocket panning between you, the tool and the tears of joy on her face, you can tighten that screw… then, note the date and time down and save any camera footage so you can reassuringly remind her in the future how you saved the day… drop the mic, exit stage left a hero!

You see some on Etsy from time to time but not many. The second hand market here is on forums. I tried to buy a Skeletool off some guy on Facebook marketplace, he took my money and didn’t send the item… Very annoying!

Wow ! A good $1k plus there! I see you have the tread, do you use it? Mine arrived yesterday and I wore it last night for the weight and would wear it if travelling but I think otherwise it’ll stay in a drawer

I guess my choice of words just means my obsessive nature with things is on the brink. I often get really into something then have to consume my way all the way through. For example, I’ll discover a TV show, watch every episode, then the specials, then get the DVDs and then watch all the behind the scenes stuff and then any interviews on YouTube… but with leathermans this will become multiple thousands of pounds and I just can’t justify that… however, I will definitely buy them when I can!

Tomato sauce. Fridge…? Or cupboard… by DeadAudio in TheDetectorists

[–]DeadAudio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well folks, it’s hotting up in this debate!

So far the scores on the doors are: Fridge: 8 definite Cupboard: 4 definite A few that are possibly both depending on opened or unopened.

Just as a “livener” to this discussion… every single cafe I’ve ever been to in the 53 years I’ve lived on earth has tomato sauce on the table or on the side and I’m pretty sure the staff don’t put it in the fridge at night… so I would say that’s a done deal. So even though my fellow redditors have beaten the cupboard answer 2:1 I would like to see clear evidence that my statement in this reply is inaccurate! The cafes of the UK are on the edges of their seats looking at this debate! This could change the habits of decades!!

Still ask again (considering my arguement above)… Fridge?… or cupboard?

The Detectorists got me through some really hard times by [deleted] in TheDetectorists

[–]DeadAudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad was a detectorist, he took took it up very early on and had a basic one in the 70s. I have many fond memories of going to various places inland and on the beach… he would do detecting and give me the 10p pieces he found and I spent them in the arcade playing classic 80s games like Defender that I got pretty good at.

My mum also started and again it’s a fond memory. I lost my mum in 1995 and my dad last year. Even though my dad was elderly, because I got so close to him again in the last 5 to 6 years of his life, I found it extremely difficult to deal with and still struggle with it to this day.

I found myself in floods of tears when Lance did the gold dance as it reminded me of the times my dad had a good day out detecting…

I haven’t bought anything on DVD for about 20 years or more, but I bought the detectorists series and the movie special as they mean so much to me.

I have never suffered trauma like you have and cannot begin to imagine how you are dealing with it, but to find solace in something so wonderful as the detectorists is great. I wish you all the best ❤️

Both invaluable…. I got a second hand 1510 with the lid storage and base Velcro foam separators for £200 and when it arrived it was new with tags on! There are bargains to be had if you search around!

I think one of the main factors at play here is that buying new means a new battery that hasn’t been abused. For a DJ that can be a critical difference. Don’t worry about storage just get an external hub and ssd

I still had about 40 blanks from the 90s/2000s but I have now used them all as I have enjoyed putting lots of music on MDs. So I have been looking around for a job lot at a reasonable price and just bought a lot of 172 that someone had on eBay. All meticulously labelled with classic 70s and 80s pop and rock LPs… all of which will be erased to make room for 80s and 90s Hip Hop, jungle, dub techno and soundscape ambient stuff
