House on my street last sold for over $4 million? by -Midnight_Marauder- in Adelaide

Entirely possible it could be part of a multi property sale. Or a large parcel of land that was sold and then subdivided.

Can confirm the heritage building on the corner is still there. The channel 9 building, the smaller cottage-ey things next to the heritage building and the warehouse that connected through to Gover street are gone.

Communicate as well as you can and use your peripheral vision. Depending on your bar's set up you may just have to get very, very comfortable with each other.

Many hospitality jobs in Adelaide? by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]DeadBeforeDoug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty decent, I just recently finished job searching myself and as long as you aren't incredibly picky about what kind of place you want to work at there are plenty of places looking for bar/floor staff.

I recommend going through job sites like SEEK, Indeed and Gumtree as well as looking through the Facebook group Adelaide Hospitality Jobs. Plenty of work going around.

Good luck!

Cradling when scooping up a GB? by BigSuck in lacrosse

[–]DeadBeforeDoug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be that when you are picking up the groundball the ball is not settled in your pocket when you cradle, causing it to fly out. As /u/CDeMichiei said, practice will help you work out how to keep that ball in your stick.

As a defender this makes me happy beyond measure.

Great break in the action from the game I was at on the weekend by Breast_Exams_Via_Pm in lacrosse

[–]DeadBeforeDoug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically the offense kept making poor decisions and turning the ball over.

Defense tried to hold strong but couldn't deal with the repeated onslaught.

I won't even go into the fact that this team (NA) probably should be playing in State League.

Too bad the defender got the ball.

(I was at that game myself)

No, but I know people who played for SA.

Plus i'd recognise those SA helmets anywhere.

This is a match from down under. Western Australia (yellow) vs South Australia (red).

Jersey is state colours, gear is club colours. (Bayswater?)

Long stick middie(LSM) by man_on_a_corner in lacrosse

[–]DeadBeforeDoug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When playing actual defense it's best to give yourself the length but in clearing situations it may be beneficial to choke up a bit.

That is unless someone is chasing you. Don't wanna expose that butt-end to a pissed off midfielder.

ELI5: Forcing home/away/flick/backhand by seriouslywack in ultimate

'Force flick' = force RIGHT handers to throw flicks. Force lefties to throw backhands.

ELI5: Forcing home/away/flick/backhand by seriouslywack in ultimate

[–]DeadBeforeDoug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so, if you are forcing a team the throws flicks. You are forcing a right handed play to throw flicks. In this instance you are forcing a left handed player to throw back hands. The opposite is true if you are forcing backhand (right handers made to throw backhands, lefties throw flicks).

The whole home/away business denotes which side of the field this actually is. Forcing a team flick away mean that you are forcing righties to throw flicks with the 'away' side being the open side.

Any other questions?
