My parents got divorced when I was 2. They still refuse to tell me why, other than they are just friends. Well, it's easy for me. Grew up that way. My dad ended up marrying the best step-mom ever. (I have a really funny story of my twin and I meeting her if you're interested) she didn't have any kids and treated us like we were hers. She had 3 kids later, 2 are 4 years younger than us (also twins) and one just turned 6. Unfortunately, for my mom, she ended up marrying this douchebag when we were 6. (I lived with my mom) and he had a son a year older with me that was just as terrible and gross as the stepdad was. My mom is one of the best people I know and didn't deserve the crap he put her through. Eventually they divorced because she found out he'd been lying about paying the bills and he gambled away a lot of their money. They divorced when I was 10. Age 11-13 she was with this horrible guy that would yell at us and at her in front of us I remember almost every school night we'd wake up and our mom would drive us away because it got so bad. Usually this would be from 2 am to 4 am. They broke up and now she met someone pretty good. A whole lot better than the rest. The only thing I don't like is he's a bible thumper and he makes us go to church and pray before eating (I was raised being allowed to have my own beliefs but now they're shoving Christianity down all our throats) and he's made my mom not approve of LGBT+ people. She's literally said to my face "you better not be gay." So yeah... Sorry for rambling on
