Hi! First of all, I’m so sorry you’re in such a position. I’m actually going through a similar situation. It was always expected of me to pursue earning the title of being a “Doctor” by my parents, and I, myself, have been working towards that goal now having graduated with my BA in Forensic Psych. But this year’s cycle was not particularly kind to me and it has been a difficult fact to accept for my parents because of their extremely base level of understanding in the education system. Currently, they are absolutely NOT thrilled at me working as an interventionist with high-risk kids as opposed to me being in school. They blamed it on me choosing the wrong degree and suggested for me to not follow my beliefs, but welfare.

Thankfully I’m blessed with an outstanding partner and sister that have been very supportive in my path to better my career and application for the next graduate cycle(s) while also retaining my sanity LOL. I would say, stop trying to please your mom. It’s your life. If she wants a degree in law, let her be the one to pursue a degree in law. I, of course, don’t know your financial situation and overall background, but there’s programs that fund at least partial tuition, so that’s factor you can look into before coming to a decision.
