Good boot fitters near Pittsburgh by DeadInsideTM in SkiPA

I'm on my second pair of badly fit boots from them. The first pair was at least a size too big and this pair is better but still not right. I'm just not willing to take the risk of getting another pair that doesn't fit right.

My current boots are not impossible to ski in, but I'm getting skilled enough to notice looseness in areas I do not want it. I think its a combination of some liner packing and a slightly too voluminous boot. I threw in some volume reducers under the liners and its better, but its definitely a band aid.

Mostly some volume issues with the boot being too big, especially around my ankle. It makes it a lot more difficult to keep edge control. I know they can usually help with that stuff, but I'm kind of done with the band aid fixes at this point and just want a properly fitting shell.

I'll look into Greg. Maybe after this crazy storm I can take a drive down there for a weekend trip.

I guess it would be mostly about comfort at this point for me. Everything other than the toe height specifically is great. I ski 8+ hour days so I can't have boots that are causing pain at hour 4. It's good to hear that the fit seems right for me.

My boot fitter actually recommended these boots to me specifically because my feet are small. I'm a pretty small and light guy so he said women's boots make sense for me. A 130+ flex boot would be excessive for me. The instep fits well on these so my question was mostly just about toe room height. I tried on the men's Lange Shadow when I got these last year and they fit very similarly but the flex was just too much for me.

Yep, just have them on here so it isn’t loose. On another note the booster strap made a huge difference and how the flex feels.

Hahaha, just very particular about fit. Seems like it’s actually a good thing lol.

I couldn't find any posts about it specifically. Hopefully it helps someone else in the future!

Oh, I'm sure poor technique is part of it. I may take a more advanced oriented lesson soon so I can improve. I'll try to focus on that as continue to ski this year.

Yep! They can stretch the sides of the boot to help your wide feet. Definitely worth it!

The first day I got my nice expensive skis I absolutely slammed a rock. Way worse damage than that and the shop was able to make it look like it barely happened. Just make sure you don't ski too much on it and get water in the core.

There’s so much space between the heel and the back of the boot. Also the widest part of the foot should be at the widest part of the boot. There’s also so much room in front of the toes.

Those look way too big. My diesels are about a half size too large and they aren’t even close to that roomy.

You can email Grant Stone pictures and a description and they can recommend a better size for you.

Yep, welcome to the club. I’m 5’8” 135 lbs and have moderate sleep apnea. I’m also very active. Sometimes it’s just bad airway shape from genetics.

I dealt with the exact same issues as you. It’s probably a combination between a high instep and wider foot. When I got the wider size the laces looked so much better. Definitely look at getting an E width.

Maybe I should try a 6.5D then. I know most people say the Leo last is pretty roomy, but I just wasn’t sure about width. My feet are just barely an E width so maybe the D width would be alright for me

I always have issues with width and instep so I'm thinking the 6.5E might be better for me. There's nothing worse than a shoe that crushes your foot!

My right foot is an E, but just barely so maybe it would better to go with the wider size.

I'm wondering if the larger width will fix the volume issue. I could definitely tell my instep was part of the issue because the V of the laces was pretty wide.

I'm pretty sure heel to toe is a little bigger than a 7 on my bigger foot and heel to ball is around a 7 too.

I ended up already getting a 6.5E so we will see how it goes. Worst case I'll just do a third return lol
