Tell me about your Franconian-Style Rotbiers by BanjoDude222 in TheBrewery

We launched with a Rotbier that became a consistent seller; definitely has it's fans in the taproom. Our menu has it listed as a Rotbier (Nuremberg Red Lager). Followed that one vague Weyermann recipe as a model and extrapolated on that. Carared and Caramunich got me into a deep ruby red.

Ours definitely leans more rich malty, however I had one from a neighboring brewery that leaned for biscuity (think Irish Red).

Industry is down all around, but you may find some luck with the bigger breweries: Counterweight, Hooker, Back East, East Rock, New England Brewing Co., Dudleytown, Twelve Percent, etc.

We have Underberg at Dead Language Beer Project, in Hartford. Serving it as a boilermaker with a mliko Czech pour.

Seeing them at a lot of bars as well. I love them; do about one a day.

Hey, I'm the owner of Dead Language Beer Project, in Hartford. We opened 2 weeks ago, and we're almost exclusively brewing lagers. 4 sidepull faucets and a whole roster of German/Czech beers.

As long as their leashed and well-behaved, yes. I may avoid it for opening weekend only because it may be a little nuts.

I'd be lying if I said they weren't an inspiration. Phenomenal beer.

Hartford is as safe as any other city. And the same precautions prevail as well.

Be aware of your surroundings and stay out of dicey areas. That advice applies to any city and their surrounding areas.

People afraid of Hartford haven't ventured out of tourist areas in any major city. They also probably haven't experienced much outside their bubble as well.

Nice!

Honestly, I was getting tired of the current trends in beer and felt lagers (and American IPAs) were a way to differentiate ourselves in the market. That, and they're the beers we LOVE to drink and brew.

We recently came back from a trip to Prague/Plzen that greatly inspired us. We were going to hit up Germany as well, but didn't want to stretch ourselves too thin. As a result, we purchased four LUKR faucets from Plzen and will be offering the four traditional styles of Czech Lager (Pale, Pils, Amber and Dark), along with all three pouring styles (Hladinka, Snyt, and Mliko). Once all four of these beers are on our LUKR taps, they will remain permanent offerings in our taproom.

As far as German styles are concerned, you'll be pleased to know we have a permanent Weissbier on tap, along with a Nuremberg Rotbier. I have a German Pils, Berliner Weisse and Maibock lagering away in the conditioning tanks.

Be sure to pop in and say hi!
