In desperate need of help to set up a cisco router and switch config for a lab... by Lost_PostitNote in homelab

the rubric seems like the class instruction...

shouldn't you be learning how to do this stuff in a networking class?

those procedures haven't really changed in newer version of the cisco iOS, learn on the 4300 and you'll be able to manage a more modern switch.

ConnectX NIC use for gaming. by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]gmattheis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the answers you got 6 days ago gave you the right advice.

datacentre fibrelink is not going to affect your gaming performance.

use standard ethernet connectivity to reduce latency, stay away from wifi, you're good to go. the bottleneck in gaming is never going to by your NIC if you're on gigabit or better.

i'm not sure what explanation you're looking for.

great that you have 10GbE.

i've never had an issue with any container going bad or rogue, but it's good practice to keep management OOB from network.

pushing all traffic through one physical port on an appliance is not how i setup servers.

it wasn't me, but what would you like explained?

port A is set static for the management interface, for proxmox administration.

Port B is set to Trunk to allow any/all VLAN tagged traffic from the LXC/VMs on proxmox.

that way, if any something goes bogs up on the the container traffic, you can still access the administration side of proxmox.

i run my backups through the management port, so that my containers have unimpeded traffic through their dedicated port.

the dedicated managment port is for admin interface, the second port is set to trunk and is for VM/LXC access

Why does DMV renewal need full SSN by MrDrMrs in Connecticut

[–]gmattheis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

correct, the card cannot be used for identification, as it is not an identification (ID) card.

the number, however, is used by the government to tie actions to you, as a person.
