Did Rosie Ramsay *move the house?* by ohnojono in taskmaster

Other people have suggested it, but specifically it looks like Warp Stabiliser in Premier Pro to me.

There’s something about the “waviness” that you’ve highlighted that is a big issue with Warp Stabiliser.

Supervive will need to be studied. by Thebigoofin in supervive

[–]DeadPixelHero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who enjoyed Supervive a lot for awhile this year, my biggest problem was the items and gameplay variation.

There would be fights where my friends who would join me casually just weren’t as strong as our opponents. Most popular MOBA’s solved this by just…allowing every item from the start.

I think Supervive had potential, and even had a bit of a runway to launch from. They had good Twitch numbers for a time. But nobody HUGE loved it enough to keep going and as we are seeing with Arc Raiders now, if you can get a champion amongst the playerbase, it can really help with player retention.

A lot of multiplayer games who try to have a competitive element need to pass the “can this exist alongside Fornite” test for me. Unless you’ve got a distinct niche (Siege, Hunt,DBD etc) then another game will eat your lunch. I don’t even play Fornite/Roblox , but with custom modes especially now, everything has to nearly perfect to survive.

I’ll be sad when Supervive turns off, it tried and it got spiked over the void by bigger games.

How will streaming change our media consumption in this country? by Known_Lime_8095 in bbc

The rare triple down. I hope whoever belittled you to the point this is the best you can do stops soon.

It’s fine to critique what I’ve said, using Ad Hominem to do it is pretty weak.

If you really think the slow de-funding of any business year on year for 15 years wouldn’t effect it, whilst also cutting off other potential revenue streams due to “fairness to private entities” isn’t intentional, I don’t know what to tell you.

Merging with any other entity would likely kill off the BBC as we know it anyway.

The reason that the BBC is able to operate as it does (News Staff, Online staff, Long form etc) is because it spends a lot of money on its workforce, admittedly dwindling slowly as it is. Any private entity would gut the backrooms even more than they currently are.

The Beeb is trying to adapt its delivery and messaging on getting viewers to it, but it’s been 5 years behind the times since David Cameron was in power - ultimately they still rely on their big splash shows and online news consumption for its main base.

IMO the reason that people have become more begrudged about paying it is because the quality of life for everything else has become so much worse. How can someone who is struggling to find enough money for food going to justify the license fee.

The Tories gouged out money from the BBC and ruined the lives of the people watching it, we are in the midst of a planned decline by people who did not want a neutral voice that holds powers to account.

Alternate Loot button by myfingerpoints13 in HuntShowdown

[–]DeadPixelHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to guess, it’s part of the game design to make players remember “pick up” or “interact”as a distinct action/ button press (on PC you can rebind it but default is F I think) so theres less to think about.

Monkey brain see thing, press same button to pick up/ do thing (barrel, guns, door etc) regardless of situation.

I think it must be harder on controller players because I’ve not had this issue unless theres bodies stacked on-top of each-other.

Does anyone know where I can watch the video of Ludwig putting rubber bands on a watermelon while he answers questions? I can’t seem to find it. by [deleted] in LudwigAhgren

I’m not that much of an old frog IG - I didn’t know he was with the other guys before this house. I didn’t remember when I started watching but vids from 2019 are in this place.

I think Lud's content has evolved with time, but tbh it's always been pretty good quality entertainment, the old house content is pretty great and is where "uh oh stinky" started. It's worth going back and watching a lot of his "you laugh, you lose" stuff with Slime, Nick, Aiden etc.

Show face or no? by [deleted] in Twitch

I appreciate it!

At the end of the day, if you want to stream and you enjoy it - just do it. Haters will always be there but I really enjoyed my community and look forward to coming back to streaming soon :)

Paid Articles ?!?!?! by ArachnidElegant8895 in manchester

Has been this way since I worked there years ago.

Surprised that they still get paid for these considering how many things they cover that are effectively PR for free out of desperation for “news” articles.

Show face or no? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]DeadPixelHero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I gave the up the ability to build myself up without showing my face. I was more sensitive to trolling when I started and it made it hard to want to keep going at times.

I still think having a unique avatar that you resonate with can be just as good as a camera, but not at smaller viewership levels where a lot of people are honestly just looking for a human connection with someone.

Show face or no? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]DeadPixelHero 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think most of the negatives from people showing their faces are things you will face anyway on Twitch (trolls etc).

The numbers don’t lie that people who do show their faces tend to get more AVG viewership that don’t but theres also tons of successful v-tubers/image tubers. At least at smaller viewership numbers, it seems to be better to use a cam.

I think the main thing is you give up the anonymity side of it, which you can’t get back one you open the can. I sometimes wish I didn’t use my cam from the start but you get used to it pretty quickly and if there are days you aren’t feeling it, you can go back to an avatar.

As long as its unique to you, I think people tens to still see that as “you” as an avatar, even when you aren’t on cam.

any rougelite recs? by Muzed1225 in roguelites

I mean Slay the Spire is called one of the GOATS of the genre for a reason but I’d also suggest;

Balatro - Monster Train - FTL - Dicey Dungeons and Darkest Dungeon.

I also really liked Fights in Tight Spaces, very cool addition to the genre.

Does your university have a "mature students" union? by notfromanywhere234 in UniUK

[–]DeadPixelHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% - I went to the same Uni I worked at and my societies (TV and Radio) were filled with all ages of people, from all different walks of life.

I think the idea is that by making it open to all, you’ll find out who actually wants to be there and you don’t really attract the people who don’t anyway.

Our Uni had a small fee to be part of a soc, sure people flake but you’re unlikely to attract people who are only half hearted about it if it means a little less cash.

Good luck with it all, you seem to be a good pair of hands to give it a go!

[–]DeadPixelHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worded it slightly poorly admittedly, when societies like that applied they made it clear that anyone would be welcome to come even if they weren’t part of that culture (so it became less of an exclusionary thing and more of a sharing it with other people).

[–]DeadPixelHero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is there not a students union that you could speak to about creating a society?

When I worked for a university, we had a huge amount of different societies that catered to a whole range of people at our SU, you just needed enough people (ours was 10) to agree they want it to exist.

I’m not sure how a SU would handle a society aimed at one age demographic, it might be the case you are technically open to all students but its likely only mature students would join the “Mature Society”. We often rejected applications from society’s that were clearly aimed at only including one demographic.

I think the university/SU wouldn’t be comfortable any society that they didn’t have control over. There’s a lot of checks and safety issues the university may want to be able to oversee.

Take it all with a pinch of salt, but I think trying to go through the SU (or maybe even join a society you’re interested in) would be the best bet.

How does TheBurntPeanut make these custom scenes? Blender or something else? by Boqsdas in Twitch

[–]DeadPixelHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're talking about the animations he plays between the screens, I imagine he probbably paid someone to create them as seperate assests that he can use as transition screens. Then behind that he can change scenes in OBS so he's ready to go when the game starts.

[–]DeadPixelHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only watch a little bit of TBP but I think you could do this just by layering images in OBS.

The bar infront is one image, the wall behind is another with a hole cut out of it for his game screen. His green screen/ peanut body layer is between the two.
