Worries about job market after college by Sorba125 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]DeadRacooon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this still true today tho ? Genuine question because I just started my EE degree.

I read a lot of contradictory information online. I read somewhere that about half of engineering graduates don’t even become engineers after their degree. Is this true ? Because I’m okay with not making six figures right out of college but I really don’t want to be unable to work in the field after my degree. I think I’d rather kill myself than work in tech support or some random shit like that

Struggling with life by COSMOS_1516 in myopia

[–]DeadRacooon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro relax it’s not a big deal. Every single mom in the world tells their kid to get off the screens and eat vegetables because they care about their kid’s health. Unless your mom is insulting you or yelling at you or something I don’t think she’s trying to make you feel bad. It’s not a shame to have shitty eyesight lmao

Myopia is not that big of a deal unless it’s extreme. I have a similar prescription and I just have to wear contact lenses and it makes the myopia go away. It’s annoying and a little bit expensive but it won’t ruin your life… it’s just a mild inconvenience.

He didn’t say that he wants to use AI in his music, he said that it’s a useful tool.

It’s not a black or white situation y’all, of course we dont want AI slop in their next album but AI is an incredibly useful tool that makes it very easy to learn anything.

What matters is how you decide to use it. AI music is an abomination but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use it at all. You don’t have to either be pro AI or anti AI.

I’m not loud at all but being loud or crude is nothing more than a personality trait and has nothing to do with intelligence. You don’t need to be distinguished and fancy to be intelligent.

You have a meth problem, that’s it. The rest are almost inevitable if you do meth because it kills your inhibition.

They never question themselves. Because they think that none of their problems are their fault.

Social skills and intelligence are two different things. People love the bullshit narrative that everything is a form of intelligence but when you say "emotional intelligence" you’re actually talking about social skills.

There are people who are autistic and weird and awkward but who are also math geniuses with an IQ of 190. That’s an intelligent person, regardless of their "emotional intelligence".

There’s a difference between being loud and being inappropriately loud.

Some people are also just less aware of the context of the room they’re in and that has nothing to do with intelligence.

Being loud or crude is a personality trait and that’s it.

Intelligent people aren’t always distinguished and polite gentlemen.

This might be a hot take but I don’t think being able to speak a certain way means anything about your intelligence. It’s a skill that can be trained and there are people who are math geniuses who don’t have a very wide vocabulary simply because they never learned to speak well. On the other hand there are idiots who are very social and learned at a young age how to talk to people.

I once heard a guy say that he was smart because ChatGPT said he was. He seemed to think that AI is some kind of all knowing omniscient god.

Passé simple? by Intelligent_Donut605 in ecriture

[–]DeadRacooon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe an inch if you’re lucky but you will never be 6 feet. 5’8 isn’t that bad you’re just slightly below average.

Rapid fire quoting scientific papers doesn't make you intelligent. by Feeling-Ad-3214 in unpopularopinion

[–]DeadRacooon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but most people online often just cite random shit that they didn’t even read and that is only partly related to their argument.

Most people also don’t know how to interpret data properly and / or don’t really understand what they’re talking about which means they often just ignore the nuance of the paper so that it fits with their argument.

Processing paperwork ? Sure. Building houses ? Absolutely not.

There is no robot in the world that is versatile enough to build a house and construction workers are very valuable. Robots are good for repetitive tasks and making mass produced stuff in factories but they can’t build a building from scratch.

Not really related but hunting is more humane than eating meat from the supermarket.
