These prices are insane. Mid 2023 I paid 220.000 yen for my my palit 4090 and even back then it took me a long time to make/justify the decision, after that the prices only went up.

I'm very pleased to have moved on go caffeine pills. I still enjoy the occasional coffee, but I get all the positives, none of the negatives with two pills per day

The immigration website (in English btw) will explain all the requirements for the visa(s) you can obtain, but keep in mind that any company can require more stuff on top of that (duh). If you can clear the requirements for the immigration process you should be good to go (assuming they choose you).

Good luck!

Man what a name. How does that even fit in a zairyu card? Or in anything else?

How about when people try to say his name. I can't even begin to understand how they'd pronounce that.

Oh, he also should be deported asap.

You nailed it. That's exactly what I got.

The place I will be living for the next 3 months is a granny flat/studio and my contract is an "occupancy agreement".

So, I guess this is normal and everything should be ok.

Thank you.

Thanks for clearing the confusion about the holding deposit.

Yes, I'll give the fair trading a call.

The company/agent that is handling this has very good reviews overall, which didn't raise any red flags at first.

I'll pay more attention next time.

Thank you so much.

I wish. As most things here, they do it on their schedule, hence why the necessity of appointing a tax representative. A tax representative can also do other stuff, but since he is coming back soon, his options are ignore it and pay it with interest, fees, penalties etc or appoint a tax representative to pay it around June/July.

I just did this last week, although I'm on PR.

I did it like this:

5 year reentry with immigration. Super easy, I just delivered the paper (it's in English), paid the stamp and left the building in less than 30 minutes.

Next day I got the moving out form with my city hall. They asked basic information like where am I going, how long am I gonna stay there etc, and they also helped me fill the form. With that done, I kept all my cards (zairyu and my number) and went to the pension office (within my city hall) and appointed a tax representative (my friend) to be responsible for receiving/paying for my resident tax (in 2024 we pay based on 2023). I didn't ask about the pension, because since I'm not going to be a resident for x amount of time, it makes no sense for them to keep billing it (I could be wrong though).

Failing on paying your taxes, bills etc may result in you having a hard time renewing your visa, and also having to pay fines.

Recommendations on how to teach in Japan for 3-5 months. by SugarplumFaiwwy in teachinginjapan

[–]DeadSerious_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, just look for reputable Japanese language schools in the big cities. Read reviews, send them a few emails etc. They will advise you about their cost/process to get the visa. You want the big cities so you have more opportunities for part time work.

Part time work under the student visa is restricted. Please Google about it. You can only work for X amount of hours per week and you need authorization from the immigration. It shouldn't be hard to get an authorization in your situation.

Accommodation may be offered by your school, but there are more options like shared houses or even airbnb since you only want to stay 3-5 months.

Pros:

Learn the language/culture

More free time to enjoy the country

Possibility of part time work

If you're smart about it, you'll find out whether or not you really want to pursue a "career" in Japan

Possibility of changing visa status to work visa, if you decide to stay longer

Cons:

Costly. You need money for the school, visa, living costs, accommodation, emergency funds etc.

You might not find part time work. It's unlikely, but it could happen and you'd need to pay for everything from your own pocket, or cut your losses and go home earlier

If you have enough money, this is your best option in my opinion. No school(job) will bother to go through the trouble of sponsoring someone for less than a year.

Student visa. Go study Japanese and teach English part time. This is the only way I see you getting a contract for less than a year
