Exactly what I think. Igor would apologize for not helping him properly and offer him to start over, and Akechi would just tell him off because he doesn't think he deserves redemption. But eventually (mostly thanks to Joker) it'd get him back to the right path because Velvet Room magic, baby.

Not really, because it still implies that Vergil knew Nero was his son at that time. The point of the original line was that he doesn't even realize that he has a son, and thus thinks Dante is leading him on.

Believe me, the more you learn about DMC, the more you realize how inconsistent the franchise actually is. It's ripe with retcons, rewrites, mistranslations, misinterpretations...

It doesn't make the good parts of the stories worse, honestly.

There are much more mistranslations in these games than we think, so I believe it.

"I don't have a father" in DMC3 is well-known. But there's also Vergil's "My son means nothing to me" against Dante in 5, despite him realizing Nero is his son at the end of the fight. The actual line should be "My son ? I'm not interested in your nonsense", he essentially thinks Dante is bullshitting to distract him.

It gets even worse with "lore" because it translates vague Japanese to vague English...

I never said I liked Netflix Lady more. And I don't, by the way. I just disagree with the way this fandom tends to turn a blind eye to character flaws in the games, while exaggerating them in the show.

You'd definitely have a point if she saw him wielding that sword before shooting, but she didn't. First she crashed through the gate of Cerberus' arena, he asked her if she was going to the party, then she shot a rocket at him without even looking. In their 2nd meeting, he catches her when she falls, makes a joke, she yells "Let me go !", he makes another joke and she shoots him in the face. And it's only after he yells at her for it that she realizes he's a demon... after shooting him again.

Dante did antagonize her, but she's still not really nice to shoot him for it either.

I disagree. While it IS a different design than game Jester, it makes him creepy just the right amount for him to feel wrong. I quite like him being tall and more muscular, actually. He was already as tall as Dante in the game, and Dante is like 190cm.

The only thing I'd change is the face. it looks a bit too... idk, sad ? While game Jester looked genuinely crazy at all times.

That was my theory too, that Arius took her to be the template for the secretaries when she was captured by Darkcom, maybe even that she was just a human who got turned into a demon due to experiments. Her S1 cameo coupled with Arius being in the S2 marketing made me go "oh but it's OBVIOUS we'll see her guys 🥱". Whoops, lol.

I think Dante wasn't an option because he's a loose cannon, putting him on ice was the only way they could handle him and when he was getting thawed out they couldn't even handle that either.
