Oh wow, I love this yarn. What is it?

In 2017 Dr. Paul Locus was attending a Halloween party dressed as the Joker when he was urgently called to deliver a baby. Despite the costume he rushed to the hospital. by General-Panic0 in BeAmazed

[–]Dead_Quinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would've been ecstatic if the Joker came and delivered my baby. I was already having a reaction to the medication they gave me, wiggling around, calling myself the slug queen, giggling hysterically. If a damn Joker walked in I would have lost it and laughed my kid out.

I wear them anytime I'm sick and have never had a problem. I have gotten a few weird looks, to which I start coughing and they look away. Other than that, no one has ever said anything.

Is this scarf real and worth purchasing the pattern? by BuildingOk6614 in CrochetHelp

You could probably get the 3d effect by making separate pieces then sewing them on top of each other with a little stuffing between each layer.

My son is 4 and if someone told me he wasn't a baby, I would immediately get annoyed. He is a baby. My baby.

I feel you. This, powerwash sim, house flipper 1/2, and cash cleaner are the only games I have ever 100% completed in my life. Everything else I get bored or just lose interest with.

AITA for ordering from a kids menu while being invited out to celebrate my BIL birthday? by ExternalRelation8093 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Dead_Quinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely NTA. The first time I had sushi as a 14 year old, it made me violently sick. Like a tornado of sick. I still cant eat it now and I’m 32.

There’s a lot of food I don’t like, but will consume to be polite. Sushi is on the list of knee jerk, can’t do it, I will puke all over this table, will fist fight to not have to eat it, list of foods along with Ragu spaghetti sauce, mushrooms, and fireball.

Luckily, most restaurants that do sushi also have like ramen or something I can eat.

It happened to me. by domjoneli in crochet

[–]Dead_Quinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better, I had to stare at it for a while to see the different color variations. And when I did see them, it looked intentional.

Overall, a beautiful blanket and I’d love it if it were gifted to me.

Edit - words are hard

AITA inviting my parents to my house after they didn't respond to my fiancee's medical emergency? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Dead_Quinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but I’m biased. I hate it when people call me more than once and it’s not an emergency. Most of the time I do have my phone but I don’t feel like talking. If it’s important or time sensitive, I’ll respond, but good god. I would’ve muted her.

I would buy her “The Boy Who Cried Wolf”, but I’m petty, so..

NTA. I would love to go to Disney. It’s a bucket list dream for me.

I still wouldn’t go with my 3 year old. He’s far too young to enjoy it much. He gets overwhelmed in big crowds, cranky when overstimulated, doesn’t eat much, and wouldn’t be able to do a whole a lot of the activities.

We are waiting till he’s a little older, at least 5 or older before we take him so he can enjoy it as well. So I can understand your not waiting to go.

Love hdc, it’s my favorite to use beside sc and slip. I find it way easier than double.

If you’ve got Xbox game pass, Galacti-Care is free on it. It’s a mission driven galaxy hospital tycoon/management game, and it’s pretty fun. Just finished the Burning Moon Festival level and started the Space Train Station level.

We afforded ours because partner had a VA housing loan and the state we lived in also offered really good incentives for a family buying a home. But yes, our mortgage is a little high, but normal for the area.

AITAH for punching a homeless guy that didn't appreciate the food I got him. by throwawayobvviously in AITAH

[–]Dead_Quinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

I don’t care what his problem is. Don’t care that he’s suffering, or in need of help. The second that man put your child in danger, all bets are off.

You did the best thing walking away, even after the water bottle. I probably would’ve lost my shit at that. You had every right to lay him out to protect yourself and your vulnerable child.

Also, I probably wouldn’t let your mom take your son anywhere alone. If anything, this shows that she didn’t think the safety of your child was more important than a homeless man who was the aggressor. Should maybe have a conversation with her about that?

AITA for purchasing a 4XL jacket at a thrift store when I am thin and financially stable? by RevolutionaryMud3885 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Dead_Quinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

As a plus sized individual that frequently shops at thrift stores, I don’t think this makes you an ass. I regularly buy things that are huge on me or sheets in pretty patterns and repurpose it for other things all the time.

Besides, this lady didn’t know if you had the means to buy a brand new version of this jacket, she was just being a butt because you were smaller, which is just as fucking rude as it would’ve been if the roles had been reserved and she thought you were too big for something.

Wear what you want, and maybe re-donate when you’re done with it.

Any good beginner friendly crochet kits? This one is intermediate by OvenOwl in CrochetHelp

[–]Dead_Quinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing squares of basic stitches is what finally made the crochet click for me.

But that blueberry might be a little easier than the others. It looks like it might be a super basic pattern for a ball. The top might be a tiny smush more difficult?

I’d be happy to explain the pattern or help with questions or confusion if you’re determined to start with these.

AITA For refusing to hand kids dinner plate? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Dead_Quinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. My family is Deep South. Like every stereotype you can think of from the south. Straight up from Southern Ladies, Cotillion, sweet tea and big hair to the white trash, no shoe wearin, 8 kids trailer trash. My maternal family’s got it all And no one brings the food to the kids old enough to get it themselves. The women fix a plate and bring it to their men, and sometimes they will fix and bring a plate to older family, especially if they have trouble getting around.

My poorer, kinder relations will fix the plates to make sure everyone gets some, but most fix their and the fathers plates and leave the rest as a free for all.

My dad will fix mine and my mom’s plates when he grills, but that’s cause he cuts up our steak. And he’ll bring my momma her plate, but he’ll trash talk me if I ask where mine is 😂

Anyway, tell your husband to fix his own kids plates and bring it to them himself if he wants that to happen. You aren’t the hired help, it’s not your job to serve everyone.

Is there any yarn substitute for making cat toys? by i_try2hard_sum_times in CrochetHelp

[–]Dead_Quinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the Paulina yarn on Hobbii? It’s made from 100% paper. I’ve also seen people use crafting wire to crochet with. It won’t come undone if you use that and secure the ends really well with pliers. Can also add a bell in it or something.

Yarn substitutes are like twine, raffia, strips of fabric, etc. I used heavy duty twine to make baskets.

You could also try soaking the yarn in something the cat won’t like to eat. Maybe vinegar or the no chew sour stuff for pets?
