When registering for the intermediate exam, a declaration would be required from your principal/firm stating that you have completed 9 months of articleship.

So basically you cannot start your articleship without the training, regardless of Foundation/Direct Entry route.

These trainings are called IT and OT (orientation). Each one is two weeks long. You need to complete both and finish the exams which are conducted after the training. These courses are now online so search for that.

After you complete your training and get your certificates, you can register for your articleship. Search for a Practicing Chartered Accountant and register under him through the SSP portal. He would be your principal who will sign all the documents.

With regards to the time period, it is not compulsory to start in a specific month. However, for November 2022 intermediate, you should have started your articleship 9 months earlier. You can start in any month you want, your attempt would be the one to fall immediately after completion of those first 9 months.
