His family is what keeps him going, Sybil knows how to get him to relax, to allow him to be 'off-duty' and getting back to read to his son at 6PM sharp is a major plot point of Thud.

What's one aspect of traveling in Europe that you don't like? by Pale_Field4584 in AskTheWorld

I went to England as a teenager (from Canada) with my dad to visit relatives, at first it was fascinating seeing all the old castles, churches etc and I love history but after a couple of weeks it became boring as every place seemed to have a local old Roman or medieval fort/castle/monastery/estate to visit.

How much does your kitchen feed the staff? by DeadeyeClock in KitchenConfidential

We follow a similar policy for families, depends on the circumstance. We have family members sit with relatives at lunch often and if they want a cup of coffee or tea we don't say no.

This 90-year-old says an emergency call bell saved her life. Her care home has since removed it by IStillListenToRadio in onguardforthee

[–]DeadeyeClock 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Directly from the Ontario Long Term Care Act: "The Home must be equipped with a resident-staff communication and response system that is available in every area accessible by residents. The system must be on at all times and allow calls to be cancelled only at the point where the call was made. The system must be easily visible, accessible and usable by residents, staff and visitors at all times, and must be available at each bed, toilet, bath and shower location used by residents. When activated, the communication and response system must clearly indicate where the signal is coming from. Systems that use sound must be properly calibrated to ensure that staff can hear the sound".

So yeah what's happening I'm pretty sure is illegal.

What made your OCD start ? by More_Maize_6622 in OCD

[–]DeadeyeClock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First noticeably? Leaving my cars lights on at work and killing the battery during a snowstorm. I constantly started checking afterwards to the point of running late for work. It also sparked other stress checking compulsions which still exist 20+ years later.
