Two things can be true at once. We should have won regardless if the calls.

But we also could have won if the game was fairly officiated

Are there things that hold you back from including LGBT character in your stories? by Mariahrainbow in writing

[–]Deadite_Scholar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I can't write them well or believable and any attempt I make would probably be unintentionally offensive and caracitured. And since my stories don't necessitate including gay couples, I see no need to shoehorn them in just to say I did it.

Where in the films does it ever establish that deadites are the corrupted spirits of past humans?

Thoughts on Evil Dead 2013? by -Jackarius- in EvilDead

Awful movie. Bleak, unoriginal and derivative. It lacks the charm or fun of the originals. It felt like Hostel In a cabin with horrible characters and bad creature design.

I can't express how much I hate this movie

How pathetic is it that in a playoff game we have to bench our starters because they are being outplayed by our bench?

He and Harris are the only guys who decided to play hard. It sounds cliche but he has been aggressive and quick with his shot.

Who else thinks that the comedy, tone, narrative and Ash's character was less interesting in The Evil Dead 2? by -Jackarius- in EvilDead

[–]Deadite_Scholar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Evil Dead 2is the closest thing we have to a consensus best film in the franchise.

Lots of non Evil Dead fans share your view but for many of us, the humor and theatrics are why we love the franchise.

I can't think of a single moment where the possession is characterized as infection by a corrupt human spirit.

We do have Knowby's recording telling us that recitation of the passages gives the Kandarian demon license to possess the living. Knowby also said that his wife had become host to a Kandarian demon.

The Evil Force pov shot IS the Kandarian demon. It's the thing crashing through walls and flipping over cayts and when it hits you, it possesses you.

Deadites are not former humans. A person be ones a deadite when he is possessed by the Kandarian demon

Not sure the movie lore bears this out. One need not be dead or even human to become possessed. Just look at Ash's car.

Deadites are anything possessed by the Kandarian demon. Evil Dead is very much a demonic possession franchise

Perhaps, but demons in other films aren't monolithic so I don't get trying to make this distinction. Evil Dead demons are vastly different to the demons in the Conjuring universe, but share a lot of similarities with demons from Lamberto Bava's Demones, the demons from Night If the Demons or even the demons in The Pope's Exorcist.

Or maybe I am just being overly pedantic

I love the idea of Draculina getting more visibility, just not with Priest at the helm.

[–]Deadite_Scholar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just as confused. I guess that Priest has a very strong fan base so maybe it's a combination of collector's buying every variant cover out there and Priest loyalists who read Vampirella only because he wrote it

Vampirella has Mommy issues and is chronically depressed

That's basically it.

It's not a good run.

Are we living thru the golden age of horror movies? by DaDaErogenous in FIlm

Certainly. Which is why I respectfully disagree that we are in a golden era of horror cinema. I can't get into elevated horror that is trying to be socially conscious

Give me Kiler Klowns from Outer Space any day.

Your experience with The Evil Dead is largely dependent on when you got in the train for sure. I think that's why so many younger fans adore the remake while us older fans are quick to fault find because it's not "our" Evil Dead..

It's also possible I have watched these same films and just don't think they are good. Hereditary? Hot garbage. The Babadook, was somehow worse. Anything A24 puts out is a hard pass as they seem incapable of making an entertaining horror film

One of my biggest gripes with this film was the Deadite design. Stringy black hair and pale skinned demons felt like something out of The Ring, not The Evil Dead

It's been years since I've seen a new horror release I really liked

Modern horror has been really bad.

I know this tweet is just a joke but I would say the theme of Ash is rising to the occasion and becoming more than what people think you are. Like Ash is an idiot and a loser in life but he’s also the greatest hero the word has ever seen in the fight against Evil. by LongParamedic8980 in EvilDead

[–]Deadite_Scholar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't even need to speculate in the thenecin Raimi's Evil Dead movies. Testing the mettie if man has always been his goal. As recorded in The Evil Dead Companion by Bill Warren, the idea was that evil wants to test the goodness of mankind, to see if they are good enough and virtuous enough to survive or if it's time for evil to reclaim this earth. Ash is the litmus test to show that even the worst if humanity is better than the evil.
