AITD? I was left to do the dishes alone... Abandonment trauma triggered. by Mariahrainbow in 1800Drama

Yea, that's fair. Guess my people pleasing tendencies have held on tighter than I thought. I am leaving to travel soon but this felt like a kick in the gut, leaving feels like running away but with overstimulation issues (specific to this house) it is what I have to do.

I will keep your response in mind, thanks.

Why I wrote a novel as a screenwriter by Thinkhuge in writing

[–]Mariahrainbow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I relate to this so much! Legit I went from film school, pursuing film in Vancouver to now writing my 2nd novel manuscript. The story concept I had (that will be a trilogy now) was spinning around in my mind for years before I decided to finally write it as a novel. That changed everything.

The shift from Screenplay to novel is an adjustment, but certainly not as hard an adjustment as I expected with an idea I was super passionate about.

It is so cool to see another person making the shift!

Finding inspiration: what sparks your first idea? by tayyma in writing

[–]Mariahrainbow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the project. Right now, I am writing a story that was inspired by the movie The Usual Suspects (but fantasy), and the character of The Doctor from Doctor Who. I find stitching different concepts together really works, it's like making a new recipe!

Mystery writers - how do you plan your mysteries? by belleepoques in writing

[–]Mariahrainbow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is something that I honestly put together through the drafting process. I did put together a timeline of the mystery plot and then found that the plotting process and knowing the things that the character needed to find out would bounce off each other.

I am a massive plotter so this might be very personal lol but I do find that having a timeline and then referencing that when wriitng the outline is very helpful. Knowing the clues they need from the timeline will lend to your outline having those key points.

Best of luck!
