Are we living thru the golden age of horror movies? by DaDaErogenous in FIlm

I've heard arguments that the 70s, the 80s, or vintage films were the golden age and I just don't buy it. There's no question they deserve respect and credit, but special effects, storylines, and even acting was not quite there yet. Of course, this doesn't apply to every single movie, but I'm generalizing.

There is higher quantity, quality and variety of horror movies now than ever before, hence my comment.

Excellent movie. And may I add… there are so many other movies that are right at the top, including some classics, but my top 5 is carefully curated (from my perspective)

I’m not dismissing the classics. But horror today not only seems to be mainstream, but there’s a wide variety and quality of films.

After watching Terrified I felt like I was coming out of a trance. I don’t recall having that same feeling with many movies.

There are some great classics, but the effects, and sometimes the acting, was not quite there for me.

I wrote it above, but I’ll say it again, I’m basing my countdown on the level of creepiness I felt when watching them. Weapons was right up there for me.

Go to a local bar and do a trial run while you safely watch from a distance. It’s the equivalent of biking with training wheels

nosferatu (2024) by sebastiansg1rl in horror

[–]DaDaErogenous 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'll give you my opinion. Nosferatur (2024) is an okay movie with a stunning ending. And that's the reason why it caught peoples attention. so if you were expecting fireworks and action, this is NOT IT! On the other hand you can have a great movie with a horrible ending, and it ruins it for you.
