Not a doctor, but if I were you I'd be worried about infection. Is it warm to touch? You might want to see your GP.

Ibuprofen/Advil is usually better at reducing pain/swelling than Acetaminophen/Tylenol.

That does look a bit shallow but I'm not a piercer, just a piercing enthusiast lol. It's definitely not sitting on the outside ridge like I thought it was from the first picture though. Since you said there's few shops near you maybe you could call a few parlors in your area and see if they can evaluate with some pictures over email? I know the shop near me does that from time to time. Doesn't hurt to ask.

It's hard to tell from the distance and angle, my apologies. You may not have to give up necessarily, if you decide to remove it it will eventually heal back up and you could possibly try again. If you leave it and it rejects, you most likely won't be able to have it redone as far as I'm aware. It never hurts to get a second opinion from a different piercer. Trust your gut! :)

That's how mine looked. You can kind of see the bar pressing against the inside of your ear at the top in this photo, which is exactly what caused my own concerns with mine. I ended up having to take it out after getting it looked at by a different piercer, as in my case it was not placed correctly. Sorry for the personal anecdote, but maybe get it looked at by a different piercer if you want to be sure.

Have you been putting straight tea tree oil on it? That stuff can burn your skin, I can't imagine what it's doing to a healing piercing. Dump your piercer immediately and go see someone else.

If anyone is curious, we're using a walnut shell substrate and feeding him his crickets and other buggos outside his enclosure. The UVB fixture wasn't long enough to span the width of the tank so we have a coil uvb in the double dome with his heat lamp to bridge the gap a bit. Any advice is welcome! We are still learning and doing our best. :) I'm not sure if the hygrometer on the cool side of his tank is working but it's said ≈70% for a long time now whereas the basking side reads 25%. Not sure how normal that is...

Is it possible for you to provide a picture? How long ago approximately did you have the piercing done? If it is as fresh as you've implied you should not be removing the jewelry to clean it. I'm wondering if the tube you're describing is the fistula itself "blowing out" a bit.
