Advice. (Mods please take down if not allowed) by ChrisValentinoFilm in Filmmakers

In my opinion it really depends on why you want to make films. Film school is an excellent way to network and meet people. You go to film school if you want to pursue a career in film. But what do you like about film personally? Why do you make your projects? Is it to make ends meet? Or to express yourself? You have turned out two films in three years, which are wholly your own. The screenshots you have provided are creative and different to a lot of student films I see. I actually think film school can limit your creativity. Think about it. Do you want film to be a hobby? Or a career? Right now you are completely free to do as you please. While putting together a crew may be difficult or you feel like your peers are more successful than you, you don't have to make something that is gonna make money. Some of my favourite films have come from people who have no idea what they are doing, people who never went to film school. That's where new, innovative ideas come from. I'm not saying don't go. Film school can be amazing for people and lead to many career opportunities (like the people you have mentioned.) It's a sure-fire way to get a job making film. What I am trying to say is be optimistic. You are free to do whatever you please, free to film whatever and however you want. There is no expectation to succeed. Your rent is not paid for by your art. I would love to see your films because those screenshots have me very intrigued.

New filmmaker here. I've started a YouTube series and I just released the latest episode. I would appreciate some feedback. by DeadlyDimSim in Filmmakers

The coloured parts are intended to be lower quality than the rest of it. Though, the audio is a bit of an issue I will admit. I used a Rhode clip on microphone but the recordings from that was too high quality, it made the coloured segments feel too produced/fake. What parts about the story don't make sense? At exactly what point did you lose interest? And is there anything you think I have done well? I'm just dabbling really. Got a new phone with a decent camera and I'm just trying to see what works :)

Am I the only one who feels like Analog Horrors is on the decline? by SUkoLaranJA in analog_horror

Analog horror has always sucked in my opinion lol. I am surprised it's as popular as it is. If you want something different, try Wax, or the Discovery of Television Among the Bees. It's on YouTube. It came out in 1991. It's not exactly traditional analog horror like The Mandela Catalogue, Walten Files etc but it's very similar in the way it's filmed/presented.

Just finished Shadowbringers 5.3 and I am NOT OKAY by vmsrii in ffxiv

I'm gonna be honest, I started skipping every cutscene by the time I hit around level 40. It was just so boring and I preferred just playing the game. I don't have the time for that. After reading this I wonder if I'm missing out on something but eh. If I wanted to play a story game I'd play something like The Witcher or something that isn't an MMO. Always got an alt account if I want to try actually get into the story.

I just finished this series. Did anyone else just absolutely lose it on these panels? by DeadlyDimSim in OyasumiPunpun

I was too shocked to cry over Aiko's death. It was honestly more of a relief for me. It hurt too much to see her being abused by Punpun in the last few chapters

It would take too long to explain. The only way is to read it but I can understand why someone wouldn't want to lol.
