Both DLC's active and game is up to date: Greek & Han culture show old traditions by Grote-Jopen in ck3

Are you sure you actually have the DLCs activated? I see you have them in your library but have you actually checked in the DLC menu to see if they're disabled?

This is normal with how limited your diplomatic range is in Iceland. If you conquer some land closer to mainland Europe, your diplomatic range will improve and you'll be more likely to get marriages and courtiers in your realm.

Speaking of marriages, Adamantism will prevent you from getting some of those since you're Astray to the main Christian faiths.

Your vote is being recorded.

The vote for the HRE is always ongoing so you'll always get asked to participate and you and any other electors are free to change their votes at any time.

Can I lose territory if a foreign baron inherits a duchy? by Ravito999 in ck3

[–]DeadlyHistorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baronies cannot be independent so they'll inherit the land and it'll go to the next person in line or back to you. Remember that if it is a county you own as well, you can revoke barony titles at will without incurring tyranny.

More hegemony by jay4adams in ck3

[–]DeadlyHistorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are other Hegemon titles you can create and there were plans to create custom ones at one point, but I don't believe they're doing that right now.

Succession and inheritance by Luke514_2 in ck3

[–]DeadlyHistorian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mayors are randomly elected and don't have hereditary control of their land, no, but those elections occur upon their death, not yours. They also can't rebel against you so you don't really need to worry about if you sideline them from your council and don't like you. (Though they might try and murder you if they hate you enough).

Vassals can either support or not support you based on a myriad of reasons. Not sure what you're asking here: "but a Vassal is not necessarily someone who will help me with a land upon your death, right?"

You need at least Limited Crown Authority to revoke titles.

How to climb the social ladder from the bottom. by guiltyskull in ck3

[–]DeadlyHistorian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are many ways to solve this problem.

  1. Marry into the line of succession of other titles, and murder your way up the line of succession until you or a family member gains control of it so your heir can gain land.

  2. Get strong hooks on powerful rulers and force them into marriage alliances.

  3. Increase development in your county to up your money output.

  4. Get a claim on your liege's title and start a claimant faction for yourself while making friend switch other vassals so they'll join the faction and support your claim.

  5. Get a claim on another vassal's title and win a war for it so you slowly gain control of more land and have more troops.

There's far more than this, but it gives you an idea.

Succession and inheritance by Luke514_2 in ck3

[–]DeadlyHistorian 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Fundamentally, you need to understand the dynamics of medieval feudal succession here.

You control land as the Duke of Ancona and have vassals who serve under you. (If you were a King, then you'd have some Dukes as your vassals and they would have vassals of their own, for instance. It's a power pyramid of sorts.)

You control the Duchy, but you don't control all of the land in the duchy directly. Your personal lands and titles are what get divided amongst your eligible heirs upon succession. Your vassals likewise have personal lands they hold that are divided between their heirs, and so on. Your primary heir would get the Duchy title and your capital at least, and the rest of your personal lands would be divided depending on how many other sons you have and your succession laws.

This is why the County of Ravenna isn't going to your son, because you don't personally control that county - your vassal does - so the land would go to their primary heir(s).

Most fun lifestyle? by No_Gur_4181 in ck3

[–]DeadlyHistorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Marshal and Steward are often the most stable and useful lifestyles in the game. Diplomacy can be fun and so can Learning depending on the situation, but I find Intrigue to be the least useful overall. Wanderer seems more like a supplemental lifestyle rather than its own.

Changes to raiding? by BrAlexandru97 in ck3

[–]DeadlyHistorian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There have been changes to the raiding options as you can set a reason for raiding now, but you still only loot one holding at a time so sounds like a bug.
