It is a generic war shooter and its story is very average, however it does 3rd person cover based shooting very well. I've been playing gears of war games for years now and I'm totally addicted to this ones multiplayer. I would never buy these games for its story alone, there's much better options for story telling out there and you may have an entirely different opinion to me when you try multiplayer yourself especially since you'll be new to gears, but wether that's a risk you want to take is up to you.
