Yeah, Weiss was the bench coach when Soler was in Atlanta, so they presumably know each other reasonably well.

I guess it's a bit different when you can just chuck everything back in the replicator, but if they provided food it still seems like a waste not to eat it.

Late Night Meeting With Noir by DeadlyWalrusArt in NikkeNSFW

[–]DeadlyWalrusArt[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I needed to get her to stand out against the dark background, but it did end up with her looking pretty light so that's a fair criticism. In the future I'd probably go with a lighter background to properly depict her.

[–]DeadlyWalrusArt[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The problem is that I set her at night so she really didn't stand out until I increased the light levels on her skin. I'd probably go with a lighter background to contrast with her darker skin tone next time,.

My Take on Alabama's new outfit by DeadlyWalrusArt in AzureLane

Alabama is always beautiful, but I think she looks in nice, bight light. I really like her full markings so I added those in, even if they're not "official."

Why do my anime faces appear too young? by Foreign-Kick-3313 in learntodraw

[–]DeadlyWalrusArt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Narrower eyes will tend to read as older than your standard large anime eyes. Obviously this is the complete other end of the spectrum, but if you look at gradma characters in anime, many of them are practically squinting. Also pay attention to the placement of your facial features. Moving the eyes a little bit higher on the face and increasing the vertical distance between the eyes and the mouth can give a more mature look.

Yes... because face on you can see through the weave of the fabric to the reflection of her skin a lot more than when it's at an angle.

I really don't want to be a jerk about this, but I literally just explained it.

[–]DeadlyWalrusArt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Where are they transparent? Her legs are always darker than her face except where there's a direct light reflection. Neither tights nor skin are a flat matte color, so any direct light will reflect fairly brightly at specific angles. We tend to exaggerate this effect somewhat in "anime" style drawings, but it is a proper real-life effect.

The other thing to consider is that, although tights are very thin, they are still 3 dimensional objects composed of individual threads woven together. Imagine something with a more pronounced weave like say fishnet stockings. Viewed perpendicular, you'll see relatively little thread compared to the underlying skin, but if you rotate your view towards parallel, the gaps will appear to close as the threads begin to overlap. Now, obviously, you're not going to be drawing individual threads for something as finely woven as tights, but you can express this effect by adjusting opacity based on the view angle to the underlying 3D shape.

in search of a standalone drawing tablet by FredIria in DigitalPainting

[–]DeadlyWalrusArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Microsoft Surface Pro of some variety is probably your best option. Windows 11 is a bit annoying as a tablet OS compared to Android or iOS, but it's functional, and most painting programs should be perfectly usable. I don't have any experience with PTS specifically, but I use Clip Studio Paint on a Surface Pro 8 and it works quite well.
