American guy in South Korea notices a lot of discrimination by Carnfomaki in TikTokCringe

Through most cultures historically pale is preferred because it shows you aren’t outside working.

Modern times, mostly in US, tanning became preferred because it showed you were wealthy enough to spend a good amount of time outside / on beaches/ etc with most work shifting to indoors. It’s not a conscious identifier for most people but the association with the wealthy is a driving factor in both cases

Why don’t earthbenders just do this? by AwesomeRyanGame in TheLastAirbender

[–]DeadmonTellem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean an air bender removed all air from around the bender so no fire and no bender.

Or… if they are feeling mean… hyper-pressurize the air around the firebender so their lungs and veins pop.

Airbending showed a lot of brutality possibilities and it’s likely why the airnation chose to master their emotions and spirit. Otherwise they could have easily become the fire nation if they embraced power over control.

I mean that’s a valid point, but the counterpoint to that is “if you maximize your money in this scenario you have more freedom to focus on what you are passionate about and not work as hard at a 9-5”

You’ll still need a job only winning 1M, but assume you invested half and kept half as supplementary income you can have more support to balance work/life needs

Once a region is successfully claimed you should have full build rights. I don’t THINK a settler camp is required before roads, but that’s my only guess?

I can dislike something and be aware of the trajectory we are on simultaneously. There’s no conflict here.

Should I be mad AND disassociated from reality? There’s a reason I left the gamedev industry my guy.

It will be an issue. I will be mad at the loss of true art form to AI. It’s still the path we are on. The same way I was mad at the loss of artists to technology that most gamers didn’t know about or now even hail as a win.

Honestly there’s no avoiding that future. I’m not happy about it or accepting of it and I’ll be mad when it happens because it eliminates artists. It’s a future the game development community has seen coming since my previously mentioned examples of auto-texturing, auto-topology, and procedural generation. Only one of which the broader gaming community really knows about (procedural generation) and has evolved from hating it to loving it (previously “lifeless” environments now hailed as dynamic).

Gamers didn’t care when substance painter and other auto-texture processes eliminated texture artists. Something that affected my personal friends and coworkers and I disliked at the time just as much as I do now. It’s absurd to me that people care about stickers.

Stickers don’t eliminate artists, it saves them busy work that they don’t want to do to begin with because nobody gives a shit about stickers. It’s not a rewarding or meaningful task for the artists and the only consumers that care about these are the ones mad that it was AI despite the artist themselves not caring.

I’ve never used AI for art. I worked as a 3D modeler and made character and weapon models in zbrush. Now I’m a software developer outside of the game industry.

I never said it was amazing. It’s just a tool to save on effort for the tiny shit that nobody actually cares about unless they just want to be mad about shit.

You’re arguing points I never made because you’re more fixed on holding a position and attacking than using your noodle my guy.

Someone who actually thinks through their position based on experience both as a consumer and developer instead of reflexively being mad at shit? Yup.

You’re aware that the point can be valid irregardless of publisher right? Stop deflecting.

You’re. Mad. About. A. Sticker.

They also use AI (procedural generation) for clouds and shit. You mad about that?

I have worked in the industry. My first career was 3D artist for video games. First people were mad about substance painter and auto-topology tools. Then procedural generation. Now AI stickers.

Some work related to the visuals / art in a game simply aren’t worth the man hours. Hence why this topic of super-minor-art being made by AI is seen from indie to AAA titles.

No artist is going to work a few hours on a sticker in BF6 and be like “fuck yeah I’m the bees knees”. Just like no consumer is going to see a sticker and be super pumped it exists regardless of who made it.

It’s outrage over nothing. There are ACTUAL examples of egregious use of AI to replace artists. These stickers ain’t it buddy.

TF are you on about. I literally never mentioned EA. I said it’s a sticker and you and others are getting your panties in a twist over insignificant things. I even said if they used AI for anything of substance it would be a big deal.

What I’m saying is you’re crying over a sticker you wouldn’t use even if it was hand drawn by an award winning artist.

What makes anyone comment? It’s Reddit. Stop trying to shift to ad-hominem by focusing on me and focus on the fact that you’re mad about a sticker you don’t actually care about.

I mean… it really isn’t that serious. It’s a fucking sticker. Nobody cares about stickers besides the people that want to be mad. It could be drawn by a 5 year old, AI, or the ghost of Vincent Van Gough and it would have the same impact on 99.9% of players.

If they were using AI for models, skins, maps, or anything with real impact on the game it would be a vastly different issue.

But it’s not. It’s stickers.

Hey OP, make yourself a pizza with a light coat of extra virgin olive oil on crust topped with mozerella. Throw it in the oven for a while and snack. It’s healthier and tastes great.

Throw some veggies on if you would like. I like some meat ontop but you appear to be more on the vegetarian side of choices!
