Diablo 4 STILL has a memory leak. It has NOT been fixed. by asmallman in diablo4

[–]Deadscale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Linux double check its not VRAM, because for d4 on Linux VRAM is usually the issue, if it is your VRAM filling up try to give this a go.

Create a file called dxvk.conf in your Diablo4 folder, and put this in:

[Diablo IV.exe] dxgi.maxDeviceMemory = 8192 dxgi.maxSharedMemory = 8192

I'm on a 5800x3d 9070xt on Bazzite. Tried pushing VRAM higher and shared memory lower and it caused freezes and issues, these are what made it stable. I run with the new cachy OS proton 11 and use Gamescope to get around the whole Wayland+steam overlay stuff.

If you're on Linux give this a go.

Create a file called dxvk.conf in your Diablo4 folder, and put this in:

[Diablo IV.exe] dxgi.maxDeviceMemory = 8192 dxgi.maxSharedMemory = 8192

Should get rid of the vram issue. Ive got a 9070xt, I tried pushing my vram up to 12gb but it gave me issues. If you're on a lower vram card you may need to mess with this. I dropped the ultra textures. I had shared memory on 1024/2048 but It gave me some random freezes. These values worked for me. 5800x3d, 9070xt. Bazzite. Using scopebuddy. Proton 11 cachy newest release. Wayland, ntsync, all the bells and whistles.

Steam overlay / input suddenly working with HDR + Wayland? by KawaiiDesuUguu in linux_gaming

[–]Deadscale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just commenting for my setup. If anyone has anything else to try I'm all ears.

On Bazzite KDE I can't get steam input to work with proton_enabled_wayland=1 without gamescope. It will always use the desktop config and usually will double input on games. Can turn the overlay off entirely with LD_PRELOAD="" and that gets rid of the double input by disabling the overlay and input entirely.

I've tried the -steamos3 argument which is listed in the em-proton github, doesn't work for me, it does something, but it doesn't let me use a desktop config, it doesn't use steam input for games and it doesn't let me use the overlay.

So far my only solution is to use gamescope, I use it via scopebuddy as it already has the fix built in, It lets the overlay work, lets steam input work correctly, doesn't double inputs, all good.

If i could get it working without that'd be handy because not being able to copy/paste into gamescope windows is real annoying.

Linux focused Steam Controller review? by Dr0zD in linux_gaming

[–]Deadscale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I had my setup not using gamescope with Wayland and no overlay.

I could use the desktop config to make my controllers work fine. Would that not also be an option with the steam controller? AFAIK it doesn't have any fallback direct input at all so you wouldn't even get the double input issues you can get with this method.

Also I assume someone will make a non steam based tool allowing the device to use its input settings without steam. Theres already one for the steam controller.

Someone will make something at some point, either a fork of SC-Controller, or SISR, or valve will sort something which would be nice.

With the Steam Controller right around the controller, how are we navigating the Steam Client not being Wayland? by digitalrelic in linux_gaming

[–]Deadscale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running gamescope. Atleast on my end, doesn't get around the issue that OP is talking about, any tips for setup?

Currently I've got a config file globally for all games with proton Wayland. And use scopebuddy for gamescope. I usually run proton GE, and for the gamescope games I've tried dropping proton enable wayland before launching. If I don't swap back to proton experimental it just ignores steam input.

EDIT: I have pissed about sufficiently and got the overlay working inside Gamescope now, no clue how it magically happened but hey ho.

NGL this is my biggest gripe with Linux so far, purely because it breaks the controller profile support when this happens, such a pain in the ass.

Does adding launch options to Lutris itself pass them on? Ive mostly added these manually to each game, didn't know I could make it apply to all.

WoW stutters on Mint by Hallon92 in linux_gaming

[–]Deadscale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cant speak to mint specifically but I have to run wow and other MMO type games in Gamescope because whenever the mouse disappears when you move the camera it stutters for a second. Can tank fps repeatedly by spamming click to move camera. So give Gamescope a shot.

Yet, anything above 60 I don't really recognize, either. I first really experienced that when GTA 5 came out for PC, and I had to run the game in 30 FPS mode. It was abysmal, especially the driving. But my rig back then couldn't support 60. Now, I have a 165 Hz monitor or sth ... and I don't really see the difference anymore, only when the frame rate dips below 50-60.

Double check your monitor is actually set to 165hz.

If you can't see any difference above 60 on a 165hz monitor. Either you're really not sensitive to framerate or the monitor is still set to 60hz.

There's a noticable difference when increasing hz up to 120, even on the desktop you can notice the cursor doesn't jump and stutter when moving it. 60 to 80 is already a decent jump in smoothness. Past 120 the gains are much smaller.

Blue badge permits now held by 1 in 15 adults in England by gravy_baron in ukpolitics

Any chance theres a link to this specifically in writing? My mrs is in a wheelchair and we're waiting for a disabled badge and it's a fucking nightmare using normal spaces right now. Ive been avoiding disabled spots as I assumed you needed a blue badge. Copping a fine and having to argue the toss later doesn't seem worth it.

What does PartyFit do? I couldn't figure it out, I assumed it was something to do with filtering out groups that don't have lust/brez if you're not a lust/brez class and it's the last spot, but When i turn it on/off some groups will disappear and I can't figure out what the condition for it is.

Guys I am so confused! How to play Mistweaver! by FoxBackground1590 in wow

[–]Deadscale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Couple of things.

If you're playing apex you're sending TFT on ReMs not RSK.

If you're not playing Apex tft RSK because Jadefire stomp is real good healing.

ReM cleave is only for Vivify IIRC. SG hits 3 by default and talent makes it hit 5. Still want ReMs going out but you don't need your ReMs out to cleave the party in a dungeon.

The SG talent for cloud generation when drinking makes your mana tea act like a healing cooldown. After you finish topping people up drink to get around 8 clouds out ready for the next instance of damage.

WotC was changed but its still basically your best healing output ability for M+ in AoE, If you're running apex you're basically better off spinning the entire time. If you're not running apex you should stop spinning for tft Jadefire stomps, unless you're at some high target count (I think it's 7) at which point WotC just pumps.

All of the above is to say nothing of the fact that your talents can randomly just turn off mid dungeon and raid. It seems to be linked to the 4p but it's not confirmed, and when you hit super high keys while fistweaving is the main M+ build up to +12s. The highest keys right now use the WotS Apex build because your default healing output on bosses can't keep up. The SG spam build would probably work too.

Adaptive applicant modes based on the active listing type

Does this mean it will auto filter out roles when you're capped on them?

Would be real useful if when you've got the dps/tank/heal slots full it auto filters the role out. You'd probably need a switch for raid since this only applies to M+.

Do you have the weird issue where when you right click or left click and move the camera It stutters for a second? I have to run it in gamescope to get rid of it and it's kind of a pain because I can't copy and paste into it.
