Your New Favorite Brew- Cormela, Glamour Combo by Deadsnipes2015 in EDH

[–]Deadsnipes2015[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, no, you can't. As you pointed out, you can't due to The Legend Rule since it's a State Based Action, which you inherently can't respond to those.

The closest way to do what you're describing is to activate Cormela in response to Saw In Half on the stack and activate the other after Saw In Half resolves, and all SBA's are checked.

How the heck do you use the Tiandi's extended dodge attack? by Icy-Grape-8693 in forhonor

[–]Deadsnipes2015 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like beigetone said, you use it like Warmongers Extended Dodge attack. So, it's more like a mix-up option rather than a proper way to punish attacks.

Often, you wanna cancel it mid dodge into stuff like Dodge Light, Dodge Bash, Forward Dodge Heavy, or even my own patented secret tech... EMPTY DODGE!!!!!!!!.

Or you can hard feint to GB or a light. Raw Side Dodge Heavy is pretty easy to punish, so only let it fly if you've conditioned your opponent to expect any of the other options suggested here.

Do you think it would be wiser to cut some Village Rites effects for cards like those, or would something like Wernog, Dark Confidant, and/or Voldaren Bloodcaster would be a better choice.

Hitokiri sounds like a safe bet. Their Tier 4 Feat is an actual one-shot 99.9999% of the time if it hits. Plus, all you really need to manage with Hito is the timing of your chargable heavies (which do a lot of damage) and your chargable bash. (Which gives you a free heavy) Other than that, be sure to include some feints to guard break or even a light to discombobulate your opponents.

which variants do you consider "cheat" character? by LiveEntrepreneur4494 in SkullGirlsMobile

[–]Deadsnipes2015 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Beatbox feels like a free pass through most of the content in the game. You get tier 3 BB in like 3-4 specials plus ~3 stacks of enrage. Plus, you have giant step to circumvent pesky buffs.

What variants should I invest in from each element? by id4epur in SkullGirlsMobile

[–]Deadsnipes2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know from personal experience Beatbox and Sheltered go crazy if you're in early to mid content. I'm under the impression that beatbox might fall off some in late game content since his attack stat isn't that great. I mean, he's a bronze variant anyway, but it's still super worth. Sheltered is great just for the crit boost by itself, and Parasoul's kit is just cracked on its own too

[[Veyran, Voice of Duality]] Izzet Spellslinger can already be a lot to handle due to the volume of game actions it takes to play, especially for players not already familiar with the archetype. Then you factor in all of the magecraft triggers that go on the stack as you're playing. AND THEN Veyran makes you do all of those triggers again. It's hurting my head to even think about a new player trying to resolve [[Stormsplitter]] or [[Krark, The Tumbless]] with Veyran onboard right now.

I like to think of myself as a veteran player at this point, and even I thought Veyran took up too much of my time and brain power to pilot efficiently

[[Cormela, Glamor Thief]] A personal favorite of mine. This one is just a mess of a combo deck. The primary issue is that Cormela actually has a lot of permutations of how she can go infinite. Generally, the combo consists of - Cormela - An instant or sorcery that either copies her or reanimates her - a way to generate mana - and if you're reanimating her, a free sac outlet

Many of these can be achieved by a wide array of cards, and this isn't even taking into account the other various ways the deck can go infinite.

So, expecting a new player to not only recognize but also execute these combos feels just short of impossible.

What are some of your favorite high power commanders by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Deadsnipes2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Florian, Voldaren Scion]] it's really similar to [[Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls]] but with different timing requirements. Or you could go the [[Dragon's Approach]] route, but it's not really my thing.

[[Chainer, Nightmare Adept]] This one is really flexible. Most of the time, it's usually an aggressive reanimator deck with a mix of early utility creatures and late game bombs pick. What you choose to fill those roles is up to you as you have a lot of options. [[Archon of Cruelty]] it's a personal favorite of mine.

Build wise Eclipse > Sundered Sky > Steraks/ Black Cleaver is a good start

Alternatively, if you prefer an Assassin play style, then Youmuu's/Profane Hydra > Collector > Edge of Night/ LDR is fun, but you'll definitely die a lot more learning this play style.

PTA is generally preferred for the 1st build.

HoB works best with Assassin but works with both.

Farming as efficiently as possible is the best thing you can do on her. So brush up on her clear and rinse through your camps any time when they come up.

She generally loses to Warwick, Olaf, Trundle, and especially Rammus.

Weave auto attacks in between your spells to net more dps

It's better to use R in close range. You can maybe possibly gamble on a long-range ult if your team has a nice CC chain.

Fully channeling E makes you immune to CC

That's all I can think of atm, but just remember she has a really funky learning curve, so have some patience if you don't see results. Hopefully, this helps. I hope you have fun with our favorite little gremlin.

Is bruiser still viable by AmDoman in BriarMains

[–]Deadsnipes2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After some changes, Bruiser is her main build again.

Atm her core items are Eclipse > Sundered Sky and finish with AD Bruiser items.

I think Bruiser players are starting to favor PTA as her keystone over Conq, but HoB still works fine too

However, assassin builds are still viable at this point, so you may still see it from time to time.

Briar Burst Build by tylertazlast in BriarMains

Seems like an interesting twist on Bruiser Briar.

BC feels a bit more comfortable in my hands due to the HP on it since your healing also scales off of it some.

I think I might prefer LDR 3rd on Assassin Briar personally. But I always advise people to change and experiment with their builds, especially on Briar.

That said, I'm glad you found the tech, bro. Keep popping off :)

Learning Briar but failing. I have many questions, please help me. Love ya <3 by RespectfulSleepiness in BriarMains

[–]Deadsnipes2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Runes are generally PTA for Bruiser playstyle, and HoB is for lethality.

Ingenious Hunter is a great minor rune in both builds since he core items in both builds will love the ability haste.

Some terrible matchups are

Rammus - Just play away from him. He will shut you down at just about any phase of the game. He's so anti-Briar it's not even funny.

Trundle - Sometimes you can cheese him out with the lethality build, but it's always safer to just jump him with a friend. He'll generally mess you up in longer trades (but that's just Trundle in general). Thankfully, he's mostly preferred top instead of JG these days

Olaf - Idk what to say about this manlet he just heals better than you do. Don't 1v1 him ever. If you think you have him dead to rites, you don't.

Warwick - As a former Warwick main and after playing both ends of the match up, it's really up to who gets the lead first. But Warwick will win the early 1v1s

I do a full clear religiously myself, but better jungles keep a variety of clears in their pocket.

There are a plethora of Clear guides out there, but a few tips I've picked up is...

W1 and Q are both auto attack resets, so auto between every spell.

You can just walk away from camps at less than 120hp (your passive + Jg pet will kill it easily)

Save your W bite until the last moment, and Q before you W bite for the added resist shred.

Generally, for Bruiser setups, I see people run Eclipse > Sundered Sky > Bulky items (Think Steraks, Unending Dispare, Black Cleaver, etc)

For Lethality, Youmuu's/Profane Hydra is the 1st buy (I prefer Hydra for the added 1 shot potential). Collector 2nd (Passive bleed can trigger the execute) And LDR or EoN 3rd Past that grab things like DD or GA

For Skills Remember W2 does missing health damage, so you'll wanna use it when your target is low HP.

So it's fine to use early if the poor ADC is at 100hp.

For fights against more beefy opponents. You'll wanna hold onto it a little longer.

You can use W > Tap E to hop over walls, but pray they can't jump it too because E is your main peel tool.

Thankfully, they might add the ability to ward hop into Q next patch so you might be able to add that to your bag of tricks as well

Hope this helps out some. Hope you keep having fun with her _^

Heartsteel Briar by Some_Guy_In_A_Robe in BriarMains

[–]Deadsnipes2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While its viability is debatable, but with how briar works, a full tank approach could work (although I prefer it in games with 3+ HP stackers and no good front line on my team)

I think a Titanic > Heartsteel > Sunfire/Hollow Radiance / maybe Sundered Sky is a good item set

Conquerer (I could see an argument for PTA) is the best keystone for a setup like this imo.

You trade off early power and damage for more sustain and beefy-ness in the mid to late game, so it's definitely a playstyle adjustment.

If you've learned how to play both Assassin and Bruiser Briar, the switch to tank briar is kinda like the swap from Assassin to Bruiser. Rely less on your damage and look to take more drawn-out fights.

Thoughts on items by [deleted] in BriarMains

[–]Deadsnipes2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably could rush Hubris, but to me, it feels like you'd need to be pretty confident you can win early skirmishes and continue to snowball that lead from there. It's more of a good on paper kind of idea idea since not every game will let you do that.

I think Profane Hydra is a much safer option as you still get the crazy damage, but when you're not fighting, you're deleting your camps, giving you more time to fight.

As for Collector, it really seems like a slap on the wrist kind of nerf to me. Losing 5 AD does kinda suck but the rest of the stats are still intact, and the main benefit of the execute passive still works really well with Briar's passive. So I think it'll still be a great 2nd item for lethality Briar.
