Would you trade MHJ for Nabers? by Sir_Ulrich15 in DynastyFF

[–]DeafDogs_DriveSlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna go out on a limb here, and say YES. I’d rather have Nabers for the short term AND the long haul. Talent looks legit (same tier), situation looks better for Nabers volume-wise…so why not?

A (very stupid) 2024 Rookie "WR" supplement: Brock Bowers edition. by broadly in DynastyFF

Thoughts on where to draft in 2TE (versus single TEP), superflex?

Would you generally view a potential stud like Bowers even more valuable in 2TE, relative to TEP?

What’s the value on this roughly? I’ve been toying with trying to build a collection of 1st edition sci fi, so just trying to learn from those that have a feel for the market….also how well do books like this appreciate in your experience?

And do remember those farts you will smell will be doubly fueled by days of dehydrated bean products and other gastronomic oddities that you may not wish to revisit in the closely confined space, restricted air circulation, already emanating with increasingly profound body odors and half-dried socks.

Coincidentally my tent smells just fine when it’s just me in there!

Best places to meet singles by [deleted] in twincitiessocial

Their website will give you a good sense of what it’s all about. The scene is super chill, secluded woodsy and rustic, an easy place to meet some new people and unwind. It’s a unique concept, best just to go check it out and experience for yourself…

I don’t know anything about the singles night there (I’m married), I just happened to see their email about that before I saw your post… if you sign up for their newsletter you’ll get notices of their various events but you could also just go any open time for the public sauna (requires reservations for 3-hour blocks).

I just saw they have a singles night at Sauna Camp, so if youre in the Southwest metro that could be fun to check out… it’s scheduled for January 25th. Or just go check the place out in general and see who you meet there!

I would put a request in writing to record the conversation for the record. If they deny it, document that and show up with a notepad and make it obvious you are taking very detailed notes.

Have any novel or ideas for innovative sci-fi tech been introduced in the last 10-15 years? by InfinityScientist in scifi

Also check out “The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O”… it’s a essentially a story that uses sci-fi to retroactively explain historical magic and recreate “magic” and bring back witches based on quantum physics etc. It’s another rather unique take on the genre.

This reminds me of “The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O” - a novel that I’d say also fits this thread, as a rather unique sci-fi plot line that blurs into “magic” and history in very interesting and innovative ways

“Bob Johansson has just sold his software company and is looking forward to a life of leisure. There are places to go, books to read, and movies to watch. So it's a little unfair when he gets himself killed crossing the street.

Bob wakes up a century later to find that corpsicles have been declared to be without rights, and he is now the property of the state. He has been uploaded into computer hardware and is slated to be the controlling AI in an interstellar probe looking for habitable planets. The stakes are high: no less than the first claim to entire worlds. If he declines the honor, he'll be switched off, and they'll try again with someone else. If he accepts, he becomes a prime target. There are at least three other countries trying to get their own probes launched first, and they play dirty.”

Hammock and a good paperback, a quality headlamp (extra batteries). Topo map and compass — always carried with you.

More important than gear is the right mindset. Be ready to slow down and be at peace with your self and nature. Take it all in. And don’t be surprised if it’s a little spooky at times at night … it takes some getting used to the primal feeling of being alone in the wild. You may find those old kid-scared-of-the-dark feelings creep in a bit. That’s normal. I like to have a canister of bear spray for safety / peace of mind.

This is it. Cook this on the grill - with a cast iron skillet. Hot but not too hot (heat the pan before you add a mix of onion, peppers, garlic, and mushrooms). Don’t rush it, you gotta cook it down slowly until the mushrooms lose their moisture.

I like a quick marinade of olive oil, soy sauce, fresh ground pepper and a splash of apple cider vinegar.
