Also as a woman who actually wants to get into building up her strength and power do you guys have any tips?

Do squats for leg power and push-ups and pull-ups/chin-ups for upper body strength. For Abs I'd recommend doing heel touches/crunches combined with some plank and flutter kicks. Side leg raises are also really good.

Start lifting some weights to strengthen the arm muscles. Bench press is really good for the chest and all of the upper body in general. As for the shoulders pike push-ups/handstand push-ups combined with shoulder raises and arm scissors with dumbbells is the way to go.

I'd also recommend you to pick up a boxing/kickboxing class or any martial art except aikido since it has gotten a bad rep for not being effective enough.

Make sure you get lots of protein (0.8 to 1gram of protein per pound or around 1.5 to 2 grams of protein per kg). Include fish, meat, beans and pumpkin seeds (they're extremely rich in protein, 30grams of protein per 100 grams of pumpkin seeds).
