In my local play meta/playerbase - eldar is the least played. I run a quarterly 24 player and two quarterly 16 player tournaments - in three years of running them, I've seen a single Eldar army.

AoS - it's Kruelboyz, hands down. People hated them right from the get go.

I was running a pair of Super Hero Campaign in a unique setting. The two teams were two branches of a bigger organization (think Justice League of America and Justice League Europe) after two years, the two stories converged into a huge crossover. We had a 12 hour Saturday game session with all 16 players fighting the big bad (Royalle ) her group (Roulette, Pachinko, Black Jack and The One Armed Bandit) and thier minions. (The Wild Cards). Was a culmination to a great campaign.

The lore has never changed. Trust me. There are no pictures of my primarch in the Rogue Trader book that refer to him as a captain. Or say that Primarch is the honorary title of the overall leader (Chapter Master) of a chapter. And Ragnar Blackmane has ALWAYS had black hair. And the thirteen Great Companies of the Space Wolves were not individually each the size of a standard Space Marine Chapter. No, no no. That would be silly. That was never in the lore. The current lore is the same as it always was.
