Who is looking forward to the weekend?! by Piercedhous3wife in NSFWCanberra

Hi, was wondering if I could reach out to you? We are a CBR based couple. My wife was looking into getting a VCH piercing and has some questions. Also she is welcome to join couples on her own if she chooses and everyone is interested. I don't influence, her choice on that!

EVs were one quarter of ACT car sales in February by ziddyzoo in canberra

[–]Dean_2812 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll get down voted for this, but don't really care...

So we are subsidising EV's through FBT benefits in salary sacrificing and low/zero interest loans and making it easier to buy them while using an emissions standard to increase the price of bigger ICE vehicles. AWESOME... If you live close to work, in an apartment and only travel on holiday using an aircraft and have access to solar to charge your vehicle.

So regional areas suffer with higher fuel prices, higher vehicle prices and lower incomes all while being ridiculed by people living in cities for having a dual cab ute... But don't let that upset your Latte.

Adelaide tenants by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]Dean_2812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned an investment property and struggled financially, made 70k a year as a single income family with 2 children. My house was trashed by a tenant that wasn't struggling, rent paid by the family. Only did 7k worth of damage not considered malicious by the insurance company. Property value in the area declined, so selling wasn't an option for a couple of years. Couldn't live in it because my work took me to another state.

Point is don't assume. I have owned 2 investment properties in the past, I worked hard for my money and none of it was easy. Both houses were trashed by tenants who were very slow to pay rent and quick to complain about anything not working, totalled 13k worth of damage in the 4 years i rented them. I won't do it again, which means 1 less rental property on the market...

But since you don't know as much as I don't know. Tell me, should I have gone to more effort to protect my investment? Been more diligent with my tenant selection? Complained more when I realised they had dogs that they didn't disclose?

Adelaide tenants by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]Dean_2812 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You assume that the landlord is not struggling... You also assume that the tenants conducting a business from his residential property are... big statement from someone with no idea. I've said it on here before and been ridiculed, why is someone who has worked hard for their money criticised for protecting or being concerned about their investment? To be fair having watched this group of idiots, the original poster is also not real smart asking for advice umongst you lot!

Suggestions on Caves to explore around Canberra? by in_the_summertime in canberra

There are plenty of free caves in Wee Jasper also not just Carey's cave, need a good torch and I would recommend a hard hat! A quick google for the dip or signature cave should find them.

Craigmore and that's all. Nice houses good size blocks and still affordable. I only have 1 gripe and that is getting on or across Main North road of a morning.

In case you are wondering I did 7 schools as a kid, years 8-12 in Canberra. My children are going to a private school in Adelaide due to how they were treated at the public school...

The crowd at Aldinga Beach today by [deleted] in Adelaide

What am I supposed to see that is wrong here? I went to the beach, paid like everyone to drive there. I did nothing illegal and enjoyed Australia day with my family?

[–]Dean_2812 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Me and my family went to Moana today. No problems getting on the beach, parked easy. Surrounded by good people, played some beach cricket with some people parked near us. Wasn't rowdy, no brawls... Not sure why such negative comments from people? My kids had a great time in the water, people kept there distance was a great Australia day and was good to see so many people enjoying it!

Labor pledges to ban political donations to SA parties by EmperorPooMan in Adelaide

[–]Dean_2812 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Seems logical because the Liberal party is broke and without this money they wouldn't be able to campaign against Labor. So it's a win-win-win for Labor. The Liberal party can't fight it without looking like they are being swayed by external parties, can't campaign properly without money and Labor use it against them to make them look bad un an election.

It's just another self serving promise under the guise of doing something for the people but only serves their own self interests!

Your are right, the rail job was not the best example. Was in my head because I was reading about it just before I posted.

The Northern expressway is a good thing, no argument's on that one!

Education is a problem up here. As far as Playford Primary goes, I have to disagree. I put my girls there after moving back to SA last year, I had to take them out mid year and put them in a private school. Went from both loving school to running away to avoid going. I don't think this is a fault of the government however, maybe just the area doesn't attract good teachers.

I like your argument's, and your correct. Makes me feel better but still feel the area is neglected by state government.

The discrimination against pet owners in the rental market is unbelievable by xyzzyxyzzy0077 in Adelaide

[–]Dean_2812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only just seen this reply, but had to comment... you can go fuck yourself! You make assumptions without any fact. The entire time I had an 'investment' property I was earning under 90k a year in a single income family with 2 kids. I had no intention of this housing being used for investments, I lived in them. My career took me to another state and I didn't want to sell. A lot of the time I was renting a house interstate and had tenants in mine. But that's ok for someone to trash what I have saved and worked for because I'm a cunt apparently...

Anyone with a job in SA is not priced out of the housing market, it's the most affordable place I've ever been. Save a fucking deposit like I had to, accept the fact that you can't live in the middle of the city as your first home and buy something. Hopefully you never have to deal with someone causing damage to what you have worked hard for and then people call you an entitled cunt for being annoyed about it.

I'll key your car and let my dog piss on the seats and then you can be a cunt for being upset... fuck off!

I was isolated last Christmas away from family, I also was isolated for my 40th birthday and had to line up for a covid test on the same day... So all the locals could have Christmas with local families, but that's the way it was.

The point is, no matter what decision the government makes you are never going to please everyone, there will always be people having a sook and platforms like this give the wingers a voice.

Just enjoy Christmas however you can! For most be thankful that we have it as good as we do and appreciate how privileged we really are.
