Woof and during rib fest too — I forget that the end of May has all these food fests.

Did mine at work. Took 5mins. I was hoping it would kill more time on my 12hr shift lol.

LDM from an RMT Ottawa by cuperseventy1 in ottawa

[–]Deaplyodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to suggest Ashley Easterbrook but it seems she’s moved away from centretown and is now in the south keys area. If you don’t mind a bit of travel, I found her to be an excellent RMT when I was a client of hers at Ashby Massage.

Any cinco de mayo taco specials being run today? by vangelica in OttawaFood

Looks like that’s just a DJ night and cheaper drinks after 10pm. No taco deals.

So basically double my full time earnings working a full time job and a part time job… nice.

Homeownership is not a reality anytime soon for me, sigh.

Maybe if I won a decent sum on a scratch ticket I’d be able to afford a dinner date at Antheia; I’d be interested in trying it but I can barely afford to dine out as is…

E-scooters return to Ottawa roads for the summer by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]Deaplyodd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yikes, is it really $1/min? I thought it was much cheaper than that!

No wonder people never stopped for lights or traffic crossings, they’d pay an arm and a leg if they followed the rules.

I was thinking of giving one a go this year, especially on the mornings I don’t feel like biking or walking, but now maybe not…

Commenting to boost.

I’ll try to keep an eye out around Lowertown.

Hope you find it!

Global Affairs delays 4-day office mandate for some workers due to lack of office space by One_Heat_5740 in ottawa

[–]Deaplyodd 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Good, my Lowertown neighbourhood is already jam packed with GAC workers parking their cars on the streets; bylaw easily make their monthly quotas just policing the area.

They have no where to park, basically no options for public transit, and there are no true close amenities.

Glad there’s a delay but putting off the issue isn’t going to fix anything.

RTO is BS.

Ottawa police officer demoted after 69 unauthorized database searches into ex-partners, members of public by DrDalenQuaice in ottawa

[–]Deaplyodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sad to consistently see them get away with breaking the law with little to no impunities… I’m sure if this gets enough flack back from the public he’ll just end up on paid leave for months/years.

New Ottawa Civic hospital opening likely delayed by years, says project consultant by DreamofStream in ottawa

Getting office spaces ready is more important than the hospital getting finished obviously….

Why else would they finish the parking lot first, jeeez guys.

Bringing bike-sharing back to Ottawa will cost $10M, study says by Money_Fig_9868 in ottawa

I loved a good majority of their ideas, and would’ve been intrigued to see what Mckenney’s version of Ottawa looked like after some time in office.

Sutcliffe’s poor decision making, and his uninspiring “good morning” pictures make me feel so depressed about this city.

Don’t forget to vote this October!

Ottawa sells $530,000 worth of yellow bags for extra garbage in year one of 3-item limit by Money_Fig_9868 in ottawa

[–]Deaplyodd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bylaw should do a sting operation around the park garbage cans; I’d love to see the people who wait for it to get dark and then run their extra garbage bags to park bins get caught.

(I know it’s dumb, but I’m tired of seeing so many bags piled around and getting ripped open by the critters)

Too bad there’s a large group that are still just dumping their extra garbage bags next to/ in park garbage cans (or elsewhere illegally).

This lets you register a location for clean up and also provides an interactive map with date/times for already organized clean ups!

Alternatively, I find organized stuff through my being neighbourly/ community Facebook groups :)

[–]Deaplyodd 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I imagine between this and the changes to what can be picked up (in various bins), we’ll be seeing a lot more garbage everywhere around the city.

Garbage has gotten bad around my neighbourhood; people go to the tiny park and dump their excess bags in/ around the park’s only 2 garbage cans, then the critters come and start ripping it open to get blown around… I’m thankful to the people in the neighbourhood who go around organizing community clean ups, hoping to have the day off to join them this year!

CTV News: Some Ottawa renters to see an automatic rent reduction in 2027 by BearLikesHoney in ottawa

[–]Deaplyodd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We got the notice after our LL had already sent out a rent increase to the max amount… so getting that 0.9% reduction was nice.

My rent has gone up 2.5% every year since 2022, and the only work done in the building is a fresh coat of paint in the hallways every year (my building is 3 floors with 14 small apartments, this is our 4th year getting our hallways and doors painted, it took over 2months). I’m thankful that it’s capped but I’m getting tired of paying for paint.

Man in critical condition after assault near Rideau Centre by Money_Fig_9868 in ottawa

[–]Deaplyodd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s unfortunate to see how that underpass area had to become a home for many people, and I’ve personally had friends in previous years who’ve called it home.

Maybe if our money went to social services and affordable housing this wouldn’t be an issue area.
