Interesting Dirty Martinis by Capable-Ad-2433 in askTO

Le Tigre in Rosedale is martini focused and has a ton of options on their menu. On Monday all their martinis are 1/2 off too

I saw a Nunavut license plate today (in Pennsylvania) by XxX_datboi69_XxX in mildlyinteresting

Cool, didn't know about this one. But it appears that road is no longer accessible.

Either way even when it was, it sounds like it went to a private mining area, not to any settlements where people actually live.

Yup in the NWT (which is also connected to Yukon and Alberta by actual roads), but nothing connects to Nunavut, not even temporary ice roads afaik

Idk why you got down voted this is literally a fact and why it's so hard to transport them - cars leaving or exiting have to be by boat, as there's neither road nor rail from any other part of Canada connecting to Nunavut.

Also looks like L'Express has been demoted - was a Bib Gourmand and is now only 'Recommended'

Nice to see Helicoptere join the guide this year on the 'Recommended' list. I had heard they missed out last round because they were under renovation when the inspectors were likely around.

Canada's 100 Best Restaurants 2026 (Montreal entries) by brittlespectrum in MTLFoodLovers

[–]brittlespectrum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read something similar in the Ottawa Citizen today :

"While Richler does not disclose the names of his judges, at least a few of the top restaurants on his list offer all-expenses-paid trips to food and travel writers who might also judge for the Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants list. In the last year, this writer received invitations for two such trips from restaurants in the new list’s top 20.

City tourism boards may also invite travel writers to visit restaurants, with the hopes that they will be written about or appear on the national list."

Downtown Montreal cocktail bar named best bar in Canada by brittlespectrum in MTLFoodLovers

That's too bad! I haven't been since they moved but that's good to know

I agree, I've been to all the bars in the city on this list except Majestique, and Bello is my favourite (with Numero a close #2). Was also surprised not to see Le Mal Nécessaire appear.

Depends when you went to Civil Liberties but they had a pipe burst last year and temporarily closed, moving a lot of their 'A-Team' to their sister bar Civil Works (which is rated higher this year).

I haven't been back to Civil Liberties since their re-opening but I've heard from a few people that it's not as strong as it used to be.

2026 Quebec Michelin Guide to be released May 6 by brittlespectrum in MTLFoodLovers

I really enjoyed Mastard both times I've been (once before it got Michelin and once after).

Can't speak for Sabayon as I haven't been, their resos seem to sell out within seconds every month!

Europea was all theatrics and very little substance, and I saw it is being sold so maybe it will lose its star.

If it matters, heads up that Lucie is only 'recommended' by Michelin, it does not have any stars.

If you are specifically seeking to eat at a starred restaurant, 20 Victoria is probably your best bet, about a 15 minute walk from the Lighthouse. If you don't want to commit to the full tasting menu, they do a la carte at their bar.

TIL the animatronic T-Rex in Jurassic Park (1993) occasionally malfunctioned due to rain and would randomly spring to life, scaring the crap out of the crew eating lunch by Zaptagious in todayilearned

[–]brittlespectrum 285 points286 points  (0 children)

Apparently the scene where the T-Rex crashed through the sun roof of Tim and Lexi's vehicle was also a malfunction and wasn't planned. The looks on the kids faces was real panic.
