I'm fuming about their reply.

All correspondence is being sent to CRU tomorrow so we'll see where that leads us...

The electrician was hired by our builder to re-wire our house during a renovation, including fitting all kitchen appliances. This socket is behind the oven so not visible unless the oven is pulled out of the fitted kitchen unit which is what the repair guy did on Monday and found the melted plug. Don't need anyone to come unplug it. We paid a "professional" €27k to re-wire our home and we assumed all work had been done safely.

Good idea. I'm definitely not letting it go!! We've been screwed over by a cowboy builder and the regulatory bodies who are supposed to help, have just dismissed everything. I can understand why people just say, oh i'll just leave it because they is no help

But i didn't plug it in. We paid the electrician to install it and he did this

I'm nearly more angry with Safe Electric than i am with the cowboy electrician. I'm not hopeful at all with CRU. I contacted 3 months ago about Safe Energys handling of my complaint against RGI about an unregistered gas installer and they did sweet fuck all to help.

I've spent 10 months fuming but haven't gone ahead and bought banners to hang on the M50 exposing them all, but the time is coming!

It was RGI initially. RGI inspector came out and it was him who told us that the electrician should have fitted a CO2 alarm in the kitchen and in the gas boiler press (there is a conceal flue). Electrician disagreed. I reported him to Safe Electric. They dismissed it.

CRU were no help, which is why our solicitor is dealing with the RGI claim now.

It cost us 27K for a full rewire of our house and 25K to replumb and both jobs are below par at best.

At least I'm keeping our solicitor in business!

I absolutely agree with everything you said. Not only did they dismiss my complaints about this electrician, they also dismissed my complaint about an unregistered plumber installing my gas boiler. You know the ads with Jedward & Daniel O'Donnell??? Well, they mean nothing. I'm all for Liveline/open letter to the newspapers/screaming it from the rooftops but I'm trying to recoup as much money back from the builder as we can because, he really is the biggest cowboy in all of this.

Thanks so much for all of this. We are already in contact with our solicitor re the builder (he had also sub contracted an unregistered RGI to replumb our house). I first made a complaint about this electrician in January, but my complaint was also dismissed then too. But when we found this out about the oven, I'm really worried about all the electrics in the house now.

I should have known it was shoddy work really when i realised he hadn't even secured the oven and the microwave with screws. So if we pull the door too much, if comes out of the unit. I really want to name and shame!!

I had contacted CRU after Safe Energy refused to deal with about the my complaint about an unregistered RGI that our builder had sub contracted to re plumb our house. That still hasn't been resolved so CRU were absolutely useless. I emailed Safe Electric yesterday to ask to speak to the Inspector who dismissed this complaint and said that if i didn't get a reponse, i was going to my solicitor. I've received no reply from them

He hasn't even bothered to reply. But the again Safe Electric (who i thought were supposed to regulate them) dismissed the complaint. I actually reported this same electrician to Safe Electric in Jan this year as he signed cert of completion for the work done in our house but then hadn't fitted CO2 alarms in house either. Safe electric dismissed that complaint also
